It’s a false mindset to believe that we have to wait for someone else to come to our aid in order to make progress. We need to take charge ourselves; we are not victims and we are not helpless.

We all have negative thoughts sometimes. It's normal and natural for our minds to go to dark places every now and then. But we don't need to fight those negative thoughts or try to control them. That will only make them feel bigger and more powerful. 

Instead, the best approach is to simply start planting more good thoughts in your mind, one by one. Every time you have a positive, uplifting thought about something you appreciate or something that makes you feel good, that's like planting a little seed of light in your mind's garden.

No matter how much progress we make, the fundamental truth is that we humans will always remain the same. Human emotions will never change, no matter how much we advance further in terms of technology and access. 

We live under the impression that situations in which we have more choice and more freedom are better for us and are driven to constantly seek them out. But here’s the key truth: As much as we enjoy and value freedom and choice, we are often happier when we have no control over things and can’t change them.

We need to cultivate a learner’s mindset so that we remain humble and our minds and hearts remain open, and refrain from becoming an expert and authority in our chosen fields. Otherwise, we’ll start settling and stagnating.
