Secret to Success
- Life is like a flight across country
- Flight is off course 99% of the time
- Pilot and the avionics continually bring the plan back on course to that it arrives on schedule at it’s destination
- In life, you’re the pilot
1. Set Clear & Definite Goals (establish your flight plan)
- Written down with your plans to accomplish them
2. Start working towards your goals/take off toward your destination with no guarantee of success
Episode 135: Confidence is Earned Through Courage
This is the reality that most entrepreneurs & High Achievers face throughout their careers.
In many cases, you have to take action despite not feeling certain, not feeling things are right, and certainly not feeling confident.
If you look more closely at those uncertain situations you’ve conquered, you’ll see a common pattern:
1. You commit to a result.
2. You have the courage to move forward.
3. Out of that come the capabilities needed.
4. When you achieve your result, you’re rewarded with confidence.
3. Be prepared to make continual course corrections
- Just like an airplane, you’ll have to learn and adjust to what you face (headwinds, storms, unexpected turbulence)
4. Stay focused on your clearly defined goals, but be flexible on how you will achieve them
5. Never Give Up / Persistence
Napoleon Hill “without persistence, you will be defeated, even before you start. With persistence you will win.”

135: Confidence is Earned Through Courage
www.JeffHeggie.com
Dan Sullivan “Fear is wetting your pants. And courage is doing what you’re supposed to do with wet pants.”
courage is never comfortable.
Courage is often depicted as a person feeling absolutely certain about taking action in a situation.
That’s not courage — that’s confidence.
The difference between courage and confidence is that confidence feels good; courage is doing what you’re supposed to do despite the discomfort and the lack of confidence.
confidence doesn’t come until you’ve earned it by going through courage first.

4. When you achieve your result, you’re rewarded with confidence.
Are there situations you’re not acting on?

134: Focus on Now, With a Can-Do Attitude
www.JeffHeggie.com
Focus on Now
- There exists only two times for the successful: now and the future
- The unsuccessful spend most of their time in the past
- Now is the period of time that successful people utilize most often to create the futures they desire
- Don’t procrastinate and put things off that should be done now
- Grant Cardone: you must acquire the discipline, muscle memory, and achievements that result from taking massive action – while others think, plan, and procrastinate. Taking actions immediately allows the most successful to design the future they desire.
- Procrastination is the ultimate weakness
- You will be amazed how much you can get done when you quit thinking, calculating, and procrastinating and just get on with it and make a habit of acting now.
- Action is necessary – and there is no time more valuable than now
- While others are trying to figure out how they will get something done, you will have already finished it
Can Do Attitude
- Approach every situation with the outlook that no matter what, it can be done
- Believe and convey that the solution does exist

133: Never Hit Snooze
Anyone & Anywhere Podcast
Alarm Click Discipline October 2019 – Jeff Heggie.com
Slight Edge “The simple things that lead to success are all easy to do. But they are also just as easy not to do.”
Jacko Willink and Leif Babin. The book is Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALS Lead and Win
In the book they say that discipline starts every day when the alarm clock goes off in the morning. The moment the alarm clock goes off is the first test and it sets the tone for the rest of the day. The test is simple. When the alarm clock goes off do you get up out of bed or do you lie there in comfort and fall back asleep.
They go on the explain that if you have the discipline to get out of bed, you win, you pass the test. If you are mentally weak at that moment and you let that weakness keep you in bed, you fail. Though it seems small, whichever decision you make will translate into more significant and substantial elements of your life.
When the alarm goes off you have two choices.

132: Do You Have a Growth Mindset or a Fixed Mindset

Kobe Bryant:
If you want to be great in a particular area, you have to obsess over it. A lot of people say they want to be great, but they're not willing to make the sacrifices necessary to achieve greatness.
I was going to dominate.
It didn’t matter who I was up against. That was my mentality going into every game. The only difference, based on who I was up against, was how would I do it.
The mindset isn’t about seeking a result - it’s more about the process of getting to the result. It’s about the journey and the approach. It’s a way of life. I do think that it’s important, in all endeavors, to have that mentality.
The Mamba Mentality
Fixed or Growth Mindset – refers to whether you believe qualities such as intelligence and talent are fixed or changeable traits
People with a fixed mindset believe that these qualities are inborn, fixed, and unchangeable.
Those with a growth mindset, on the other hand, believe that these abilities can be developed and strengthened by way of commitment and hard work.
Mindset Formation
According to Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck, many people are trained in the two types of mindsets early in life, often through the way they are raised or their experiences in school.
Dweck notes that having a growth mindset doesn't involve believing that anyone can become anything they want with enough education and effort. Not everyone can become Einstein or Mozart just because they try.
Instead, the growth mindset is about living up to one's possible potential.
Potential => Action => Results => Belief/Certainty (Confidence)
This potential, however, is never really knowable.
Who knows how far a person can go if they set their mind to it?
People with a growth mindset believe that the effort that goes into learning and deepening their understanding and talents is well worth all the toil and trouble.
Can You Change Your Mindset?
While people with a fixed mindset might not agree, Dweck suggests that people are capable of changing their mindsets.
