Those who fall away from the Faith almost always have this in common.
LBC 1689 (Chapter 19, Paragraph 4) “To them also he gave sundry judicial laws, which expired together with the state of that people, not obliging any now by virtue of that institution; their general equity only being of moral use.” ( 1 Corinthians 9:8-10 )
The 10 Commandments weren’t merely given to Israel, but all humanity. And these 10 Commandments are still binding on all men today.
The Ceremonial Law was fulfilled and abrogated by Christ. And yet, some Dispensationalists think that animal sacrifices will be reinstated in the Millennial Kingdom.
Both Baptists and Presbyterians will inevitably baptize people who end up committing the sin of apostasy. In this sermon clip, Pastor Joel Webbon deals with Hebrews 6:4-6: “For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit… and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance…”
If a neutered and spineless pastor is willing to starve his sheep by refusing to courageously preach God’s Word, I will make no apology for when his congregants leave his church and come to mine. God delights in faithful churches increasing by both “conversion growth” and “transferred growth.”
There are reasons why men don’t go to church, and it’s not merely because of men’s sin. American Evangelicalism has geared itself almost exclusively toward women, and it has demonized masculinity.
There is a dynamic difference between DOUBT and UNBELIEF. True Christians will occasionally wrestle with doubts, especially during the beginning stages of their sanctification. But do true Christians ever wrestle with unbelief?
In John 11, we see that Jesus was “deeply moved in his spirit and greatly troubled.” Some have interpreted this phrase to mean that Jesus was overcome by GRIEF. This is partially true, but we must also understand this phrase to mean that Jesus was filled with ANGER. So what/who was the object of Jesus’ anger? There are actually two key objects of Jesus’ anger that we must properly identify if we wish to fully understand the person and work of Christ.
“Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.” (Hebrews 2:14-15 ESV)
