Watch out! Offenses Ahead. 4

We have established the fact that offences are the breeding ground for unforgiveness. The presence of  anger and provocation, is therefore a conducive environment for unforgiveness. However, it is important to note that we have the power to overcome whatever comes our way, including offences. 

This brings us to the subject of choice; we may not be in control of how and when offences will come, but we can choose not to allow it rule us. We can choose not to allow offences complete its cycle by sowing the seed of unforgiveness. Cain the brother of Abel in the Bible is a classic example of someone in this situation. Here is what God told him in Genesis 4:6-7 (NLT)

“Why are you so angry?” the Lord asked Cain. “Why do you look so dejected? 7 You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be its master.”

Cain and Abel his brother made sacrifices to God. God receives Abel's sacrifice and rejects Cain's sacrifice. This infuriated Cain and in anger and unforgiveness, he kills his brother Abel. But before Cain murdered his brother, God called on him to watch it, telling him that offences were trying to take hold of him but that he should resist it and master his negative emotion.

God is clearly saying to us, that offences can and will come. The problem is not in offences coming, but in our ability not to allow it pull us down. We are all emotional creatures and we are permitted to be offended but the Bible teaches that we should not allow it to take us down and affect other areas of our lives. We are to be on guard and overcome it lest we walk the rough road of unforgiveness.

My prayer today is that no matter what is causing offences and the grievous pain it brings into our lives, God will strengthen us by the power of His Spirit to subdue and master it, so that it will not take the best of us in Jesus name.

Watch out! Offenses ahead 3

Offences are the traps that Satan uses to pull us into unforgiveness. One of the major assignments of a believer, is to fight against anything that will make unforgiveness to grow in his or her heart. Never forget that offences are a breeding ground for unforgiveness. So the believer is to fight it off by not allowing Satan to sow the seed of offence in his or her heart.

There are many reasons for and sources of offence. Jesus said that offences must surely come, but woe to whom from which it comes. Paul and Barnabas had a good share of offence in their earthly ministry. The book of Acts records a group of people who dedicated themselves to destroy the ministry of Paul. They followed him to all the cities he preached just to bring chaos and trouble. 2 Timothy 4:14 (NLT) says . . .

"Alexander the coppersmith did me much harm, but the Lord will judge him for what he has done."

Of all the Paul's Offenders, Alexander stood out to Paul. He master minded a lot of Paul's offences, so much so that Paul had to commit him into the hand of God for judgment. Paul never held anything against him but quickly left him to the judgment of God.

It is also important to note that offences can come from people knowingly or unknowingly. When Jesus was about to be crucified, the Jews accused him falsely and did all sorts of painful things to him, but in Luke 23:34 the bible says . . .

Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do." And they divided His garments and cast lots.

Here is an innocent man who has been lied against, spat on, scourged, and beaten, yet Jesus said "father forgive them because they don't know what they are doing." The truth is that many people offend us and they honestly don't know. Therefore, whether offences come intentionally or not intentionally, do not allow offences to fester or take root in your heart because the root of bitterness will defile you and cause you more harm.

I pray God will give you strength and grace to resist offences in anyway it manifests itself in Jesus name.

Watch Out! Offences Ahead 2

Watch out because no matter what, offences will come. We can try to pray them away but as Jesus said, it will surely come. The question is where exactly does it come from and how?

Let us read our bible from Job 5: 6 – 7 (NLT),

6 But evil does not spring from the soil, and trouble does not sprout from the earth

.

7 People are born for trouble as readily as sparks fly up from a fire.

The bible here is saying that evil doesn’t just grow and trouble doesn’t just come from anywhere, it is built into the fallen nature of our world. The fact that we are living in a broken world makes offence part of our living reality. The bible says that just as surely as sparks fly out from fire, we can be certain that offences will come in life. The moment we know this, we have a head start. This is why we need to watch out. Offences will come unannounced from places we don’t expect. Its source makes no difference because Jesus has told us how to deal with it. We might not be able to stop birds from flying over our heads, but we can stop them from building a nest on our heads. We cannot stop offences from coming but we must ensure that no matter how it comes, it doesn’t lead us into unforgiveness. Unforgiveness is like cancer, it is evil and drags us down. "Offence" is what the devil uses as a hook to pull a person into unforgiveness.

I pray in the name of Jesus that anywhere the devil is using offences to get you it will fail. Watch out! Offences ahead. You will not be a victim in Jesus’ name.

Watch Out! Offences Ahead 1

We must watch out because “offences” are just ahead. If you are not dealing with one right now, you must have dealt with it at some point in your life and will still deal with it in the future. Whether you pray or fast you will still have to deal with offences. Offence is a breeding ground for unforgiveness. The moment you have offences you need to tread carefully because unforgiveness is not very far away. We must get ready to deal with offences because if we don’t, we might find ourselves walking in unforgiveness.

Let’s read from Luke 17: 1 (NKJV),

Then He said to the disciples, “It is impossible that no offences should come, but woe to him through whom they do come!

Here it says offences will surely come. No matter how spiritual and good you are to people, reasons for offences will surely come. No matter where it is, make up your mind that offences will not allow you to get into unforgiveness. The moment we do not prepare and offences come, especially unannounced, they take us off our guard and we begin to struggle with unforgiveness.

I pray in the name of Jesus that when the time and season comes, and offence comes your way you will have the wisdom and the strength to deal with it.

The Force of Forgiveness 3

The basic understanding of the word “force” is that it is the energy or power that can be used to subject something to change. So, anything that can influence anybody is a force. Hence, forgiveness is a force. Forgiveness is a force because it can bring changes to our lives. In the same way, unforgiveness is a force that can also cause changes. Therefore, God encourages us to use the force of forgiveness so that it can bring positive changes to our lives. When we do not forgive, we risk a lot of trouble. Unforgiveness is dangerous to us and those around us.

Hebrew 12: 15 (TPT) says;

"Watch over each other to make sure that no one misses the revelation of God’s grace. And make sure no one lives with a root of bitterness sprouting within them which will only cause trouble and poison the hearts of many."

When we do not forgive, we allow bitterness start from within us. This bible verse says unforgiveness cuts us off God’s grace and power. The root of bitterness then begins to grow inside of us, poisoning our system to the point where it will trouble the heart of those around us.

We can see that unforgiveness is foolishness because it can cause trouble for us and those around us. It can be a root cause of mental, emotional and health challenges. I have had a doctor say that one of the causes of cancer is unforgiveness.

It is imperative to leverage on the force of forgiveness to help ourselves. We are not helping anybody when we forgive them, we are helping ourselves as individuals. So, let's use the force of forgiveness starting from this new month to move our lives forward and avoid failure in the grace of God.

The Force of Forgiveness.

A lot of us think that forgiveness is for the weak and powerful people deal with people. The truth is this; It takes a lot of power to forgive, to anticipate an error that people would do against you and before they do it, to release them in your heart so when they do it, it is not difficult to forgive .

 Understand that human beings naturally are designed to revenge. When somebody does something wrong to you, your natural response is to get back at him and make them feel bad. But one thing is this; God designed all of us to forgive, just the way He designed the world with the capacity to forgive. He created every human being with the capacity to forgive one another. Jesus said, the offence will surely come, but even though offence will surely come, you must be ready to forgive. 

Never hold a sin against anybody; believe me, this takes a lot to do. Under the Old Testament laws, the talk is about , “an eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth".  It is just natural to lash out when somebody does something wrong against you. But under the new covenant, we are called to a higher level of life, higher level of power and a higher level of control. If somebody slaps you, don't slap back, what do you do? Turn the other cheek and let them give you another slap? Now, it doesn't mean that you should just turn your cheek let someone slap you again. It simply means you have the power of response. You can control yourself and say, “instead of slapping the person back, instead of taking revenge, I will control myself.” God has created in all of us, the capacity to forgive one another.

Let's read the book of Matthew 6: 15 (NLT), “But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive you your sins.”

The Bible is saying here that because God has designed you with the capacity to forgive others, the moment somebody offends you and you refuse to forgive them, God also would not forgive you. Why? Because he knows you have what it takes to forgive. So, we are talking about this amazing force of forgiveness, but understand this;

The power of forgiveness is designed into our world.

The power of forgiveness is also in you so you can choose to forgive.

Jesus said it somewhere in the book of John, that whoever you forgive He forgives too. And when you forgive people, you are releasing them. May God give us the grace to release as many people as possible who we’ve held in unforgiveness. And once you release them, God also releases you. May you enjoy supernatural release this month in Jesus' name.

Maximizing the Life of God in You 9

If we want to profit from the life of God, we must learn to engage it deliberately and the key to maximizing this life is by stirring it up. We must constantly engage this life until we become until we delivers everything God has made available for us by His life. In Revelation 5:12 we have a list of some of the  benefits the life of God makes available to us.The summary of what the life of God provides for us is the good life.

3 John 2 (NKJV), 

2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. 

The word prosper in the scripture is not just about money, it means having a good journey. It means fulfilling your destiny in life. John is communicating through Holy Spirit that God want us to have a good life. God want our life’s journey to go well. He wants us to be in good health as our soul proper. The prosperity of soul is directly related to our physical health. As important as it is to God that we develop an intimate relationship with Him in order to maximize the fullness of His life, He also  desire that we live in good health.

What is the point accumulating wealth with a failed health. Remember Job, the devil attacked his health terribly. His life was miserable to the point of death. When God restored his health, his wealth was also restored, and everything went back to norma even better. God does not want is to leave our health unattended. Yes, Jesus has paid the price for our health, but that doesn't mean we should be careless about our it.

If or when our health is challenged, remember that  healing has been made available for us in Christ and through the life of God in us we can access by faith. As we stir up the life of God, it has the ability to supply energy required for healing. With the world grappling with a global epidemic, you must be aware that the life of God in you is able to keep you and shield you. It does mean that we have to be careless. However, the bibles say, the spirit of a man is able to sustain him and bring him to health when the health is challenged. God has made provision for our health. He has made provision for our healing. All we have to do is to enforce the reality of that wellness through the blood of Jesus and the life of God we have already.

Stir up that life and release the life of God to enforce your healing and health.

Maximizing the life of God in you 8

We have said that to maximize the life of God in us, we must stir it up, which means using it til we take advantage of everything that God has given us. God's idea was that we should have abundant life here on Earth and not just in heaven.

 Living the life of God comes with its benefits, and these benefits can be seen. in Rev. 5:12 (NLT) we read something very interesting;

And they sang in a mighty chorus:

"Worthy is the Lamb who was slaughtered—  to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing.”

What you just read at the benefits of maximizing the life of God in us, it is a life of power, riches Wisdom, strength, longevity, wellness, and vitality. It is a life of honour which means good standing in the society and respect in the community. It is a life of Glory, a life in which you are seeing the manifestation of your potential and the life of God in you. It is simply a life of blessing,. This is the picture of of a person living in the fullness of the life of God. This is the exceptional life that we all want to be part of, and God wants you to live in it.

Abundance of Life takes away reproach and makes people not to call a pity party for you and treat you like a victim. The apostles had a pretty share of a pity party when Jesus was crucified. But when the Holy Spirit came on them, the people who pitied them saw how bold they stood to speak the word of God. These Apostles manifested so much of the life of God that the people could not stop them. They knew how unlearned and ignorant these men were. It could only be something more than the natural that would make men who were cowards some days ago, become bold as Lions. The life of God was working maximally in their lives, giving them boldness tell the people that the life of God had come into them. 

I pray that your life would command attention, you would be a Victor and not a victim, you would not be a source of reproach but a source of envy and glory to God in the name of Jesus.
