Damage Control

New York City just issued a vaccine mandate that hits two insane new extremes. On this episode of the BASEDBrief, Hannah & Brad break down its wide-ranging implications for private-sector employees and children alike, then tackle the news that Democrat Stacey Abrams is running for Georgia governor—again. Plus, they recap highlights from a cringe-worthy congressional hearing on anti-Big Tech legislation and highlight the week’s other top stories.

On this month’s episode of BASED, I’m tackling a subject I’ve been on one about for years. Prosecutors. Due to current events it seems the rest of the country is finally waking up to the corruption and abuse in this profession, but it goes so much deeper than you think. Join me as I walk listeners through every detail of what I’ve seen during my time in criminal justice reform. You don’t want to miss this one.

In the second episode of the new weekly BASED Brief, Hannah & Brad talk about their Thanksgiving plans and a funny bout with TikTok censorship. Then, they walk through the big stories of the week like the Waukesha tragedy, the doxxing of J.K Rowling over the trans rights debate, and promising new GOP legislation that would end the federal government’s war on marijuana—and what these stories reveal about the big-picture principles in our politics. Plus, they read and react to listener reviews from the first episode and talk Taylor Swift and seafood.

Surprise guys! We’ve got a whole new BASED spin-off for you. I’m rolling out the BASED Brief with my dear friend and colleague, Brad Polumbo. There is no one whose opinion I respect more, and we frequently collaborate on all of our projects. So we thought, why not let you in on our conversations?

Every week, Brad and I are going to let you into our thought process as we work through the week’s top headlines and break down the political, economic, and societal implications. Pull up a chair, and join us for this new series!

In this first episode, we break down the #FreeBritney movement’s recent victory, the Kyle Rittenhouse trial, Vice President Harris’s dishonest “Build Back Better” rhetoric, a viral MAGA church scandal, and Europe’s latest attack on Big Tech. Plus, some hot takes on a certain vegetable and everybody’s favorite teen romance novels.

NOTE: In this episode, we mistakenly referred to Sen. Josh Hawley's anti-trust bill when we meant Sen. Tom Cotton's. Read more here: https://reason.com/2021/11/08/amy-klobuchar-tom-cotton-big-tech-monopoly-amazon-target-walmart/

Why should America try to be more like countries that are worse in nearly every way?

Many progressives think America should become more like Europe. But European policy is actually trash, argues conservative author David Harsanyi in a new book, "Eurotrash: Why America Must Reject the Failed Ideas of a Dying Continent." He joins the show to break his argument down.

Guys, it is our one-year BASED-AVERSARY! I can’t believe it. So, in honor of the milestone, I decided to give you the episode I know so many have been waiting on: foreign policy.

Join me for this no-holds-barred episode where I promise no politician is safe. You’ll also notice I got new equipment thanks to your support! My show notes are now in teleprompter form, and it was amazing not having to look down the whole time or worry about losing my place.

This is also the first episode I ever recorded that wasn’t done in a single take. Again, huge thanks to you all and, of course, Luis Angeles for helping me take BASED to the next level. I can’t wait to see where the next year goes!

Morgan Zegers founded Young Americans Against Socialism (YAAS) in 2019 to fight against rising support for socialism among young people. She joins the show to tell her personal story of confronting left-wing radicalism as a student at American University and why she launched Young Americans Against Socialism.

We break down the misconceptions young people hold about so-called "democratic" socialism and the messages offered by leaders like Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Plus, we talk about the GOP's failures and the rise of market-skeptical populist conservatism.
