Dan vs The Screen

Cafe Society is Woody-Allen-ariffic, Bad Moms is pretty hysterical, and Nerve is . . . actually pretty good!?  Listen for all the details on those, but more importantly: our reactions to the Nine Lives trailer. “Bad Ideas (clean)” Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/

A zombie-version of Dan (thanks to mountains of overtime) teams up with Rachele to run down Ice Age 5, Star Trek . . . 13?, and Lights Out.  Zombie-Dan also makes predictions about the 5 movies he’ll try to watch the following week, while also working massive overtime. Spoiler alert: Doesn’t happen. “Bad Ideas (clean)” Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) … Continue reading "Episode 30"

Rachel and I run down The Infiltrator and Ghostbusters . . . twice!  But you only get to hear the second time!  I blame Bill Gates.  It’s still a very fun, if very late, episode. “Bad Ideas (clean)” Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/

This week has everything you’re looking for! Green CGI rocket-farts?  Look no farther than The BFG! Sausage-fueled dog quasi-drug trips?  Check out The Secret Life of Pets! Boobs?  Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates is the movie for you! Also, guesses about Ghostbusters and The Infiltrator. “Bad Ideas (clean)” Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 … Continue reading "Episode 28"

It’s a weird week, with movies ranging from the terrible Neon Demon to the inexplicable Swiss Army Man, to the just plain typical Tarzan and The Purge. One movie got pushed to next week, so listen to Episode 28 for The BFG as well as Secret Life of Pets and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates! “Bad Ideas (clean)” Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed … Continue reading "Episode 27"

Independence Day was a lot like Independence Day, or is it the other way around?  The Purge was a lot like The Purge, too.  Or is it The Purge 2?  Free State of Jones, on the other hand, just wasn’t very good. All that, plus predictions for FIVE movies coming up! “Bad Ideas (clean)” Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative … Continue reading "Episode 26"

Finding Dory, Central Intelligence, and Now You See Me 2 are all in the rear-view mirror this week.  One movie was jam-packed full of crazy twists, one was jam-packed with outrageously adorable character, and one was jam-packed with The Rock.  I’ll let you figure out which was which. I’ll also let you figure out what curse-word I … Continue reading "Episode 25"

Warcraft and The Conjuring 2 are in the rear-view mirror, but I punted on Now You See Me 2, so stay tuned for that next week! More importantly, Rachel and I talk video-game movies, the theme to Mortal Kombat, and what part of the brain makes memories.  (Spoiler alert: I don’t remember!) “Bad Ideas (clean)” Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) … Continue reading "Episode 24"

I thought about stopping.  I thought about quitting.  I thought I couldn’t see another movie this year.  But then, the tagline to Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping inspired me, so I carried on! I also watched Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Out of the Shadows, and Me Before You, but those weren’t nearly as inspirational. “Bad Ideas (clean)” … Continue reading "Episode 23"

Yes, we talk about X-Men Apocalypse.  Yes, we talk about Alice and Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass.  But really, that’s all just a lead up to a horrible confession about The Lord of the Rings (hint: one of the two of us didn’t read all the books) and a nice little rant about emoji-based advertising.  For the curious, … Continue reading "Episode 22"
