There are 17 books in the series and have 4 live action movies and 2 automated movies.

There is also a spin-off series dedicated to the main characters best friend.

"The Help" was published in 2009 and written by Kathryn Stockett.

The movie adaptation was released in 2011.

I have read some of the "Captain Underpants" novels and I can honestly say, they are worth reading.

The target age for Pilkey's books is elementary and middle school aged kids.
