VERSE 1
I was digging through the court files late one night,
Following the emails, trying to make it right,
Signed reports and promises stacked up in a pile,
Everybody smiling, everybody talking numbers for a while.
They said the money's working while you're sleeping in your bed,
Just trust the process, keep the doubts out of your head,
The payouts kept on coming, at least that's what they said,
But the deeper that I looked, the more questions filled my head.
PRE-CHORUS
The story sounded polished,
The confidence was high,
But every scheme I've ever seen
Starts with the same reply.
CHORUS
Six percent Mike,
That's what the message said,
"Put your money over here,"
That's the road investors tread.
Six percent Mike,
While the warning lights were dim,
Everybody loved the promise,
Till the music wasn't with him.
Six percent Mike,
Now the filings tell the tale,
What looked like easy money
Started looking awfully frail.
VERSE 2
Then I found the private messages buried in the claim,
Not a public presentation, not a marketing campaign,
Just a conversation where the numbers came alive,
Talking about returns that seemed too good to survive.
He said:
"I'll give you six percent per month on your money as well,
But we sell it for four."
Those are the words appearing in the filing today,
The kind of words investigators don't simply throw away.
Then another message followed, laying out the plan,
"I'm offering you two percent per month on other people's money,
As long as it remains in the fund."
Bring in a hundred thousand,
Two thousand every month,
The sort of arrangement
That makes you stop and hunt.
CHORUS
Six percent Mike,
That's what the messages show,
Promises of monthly income,
Watch the balances grow.
Six percent Mike,
Talking deals behind the scenes,
While investors kept believing
In the liquidity machine.
Six percent Mike,
Everybody wants to know,
How the money kept on moving,
And where it all would go.
BRIDGE
Then came the security story,
The safeguards and the shield,
The talk of cyber experts,
And protection in the field.
"Our head of cyber security
Worked with the FBI,"
That's the kind of reassurance
That makes suspicion pass you by.
Insurance.
Protection.
Multi-signature control.
The promises got bigger,
But who was checking the whole?
GUITAR SOLO
FINAL CHORUS
Six percent Mike,
Now the bankruptcy unfolds,
Court exhibits and conversations,
Stories finally told.
Six percent Mike,
The evidence keeps arriving in waves,
And every new filing raises
More questions than it saves.
Six percent Mike,
The investors want to know,
When the promises were made,
What was really running the show?
OUTRO
The filings keep on coming,
The record's growing every day,
The story isn't finished,
There's still a lot to say.
Because when private conversations
End up in a court file stack,
The biggest question isn't what was promised...
It's whether the money ever had a path back.
