Back in studio!  Seattle was beautiful! I really enjoyed our trip and our podcast recording in the Emerald City, you can watch the YouTube video here! Back into the recording rig last night with what was certainly a Seattle inspired look into the Nirvana acoustic performance exhibit that I saw. I was droning in vocal practice to a standard chord progression that had a bit of post grunge to it on the words "I Don't Know You", which ultimately became the demo you hear recorded. I decided to keep the sound acoustic and avoid the distortion, in part tribute to the MTV Unplugged set that Nirvana so famously performed. Its a bit of a musical souvenir, though I wrote it back here in the East Bay. I hope you enjoy listening to it and will share it with a friend!

My childhood friend Michelle has sadly passed away far too young, at age 28. She was one of my best friends in middle school and I will always remember her laugh, smile, and kind nature. Once and a while I like to stroll through the audio libraries and archives from various recordings of my songs. The documenting of the process has been one of the interesting components of the recording and podcasting. It is fun to see songs develop, publish, modify, and review once and a while. Thanks to all of the downloads and streams around the world, it is a pleasure to make music and I am grateful for each member of this digital audience. After a couple of tough training days learning a new area and system, it was a good time for recording and some musical creativity! Something I am trying to inspire in my summer school teaching. I want the best for the children of the present, and I shared with them the importance of teaching and music. I also got a chance to meet a dozen or so new people, teachers, trying to make an impact, and it inspired me to step up my game and continue to develop as well. That's a good message. That's something I want to be able to teach as well. For the song now, its a G Major to D minor, to C major, and back to G major groove.

Wishing everyone a happy summer! RI.I.P Muhammad Ali, one of the most famous people of modern history, he will be a great classroom discussion in the fall. He spoke about going out and realizing your potential to change history. He was an enigmatic figure and every documentary I have seen is interesting that followed him. I hope to get back to the regular recording sessions this summer as I work towards the next new album. Finally, some Friday night recording time! Well worth it too, introducing the new free demo song download of “Strong”. I really like how this song is turning out. I can’t believe more than half of May has been flying by while I have had my head deep into books, studying, planning, and less recording than I would have liked. Still, there is a method to the input and workload that makes creativity thrive even if it is sometimes held under a bushel basket. (That was an odd metaphor I know, it surprised me too). I find that when there has been a lapse in available recording time, there are plenty of good ideas to come at the next songwriting session. Its like the mind is quietly waiting for attention to be turned to production so that an outlet can be made,and I hope everyone enjoys the electrical impulses and notation that is this brand new recording.
