In the spirit of the season, the general public is invited to participate in Hyde Park Corner's Love the Sounds initiative, by bringing their pre-loved musical instruments to be donated to the Music Enlightenment Project, a community-based NPO based in Braamfontein.
The privilege of learning to play a musical instrument is a joy many of us were fortunate enough to experience. For some it became a lifelong passion, but for many of us these instruments were put back on the shelf and are still there, in mint condition. Your gift of a pre-loved musical instrument to a child with a passion and talent for music means so more than the joy it will bring; the gift of music is life-changing, teaching children life skills and preparing them for productive futures. By placing your pre-loved instruments under Hyde Park Corner's Christmas tree any time until 31 December, you can be part of a bigger story of changing lives. Hyde Park Corner is proud to be partnering in this initiative with the Music Enlightenment Project.
The initiative was founded in 2009 with the aim of creating a world where the lives of children and communities are enriched and transformed through the experience, practice and performance of music. Their holistic approach involves creating successful futures for children by developing not only their skills as musicians but also their life skills through music education.
