In Hebrews 2:1-4, the author pleads for careful attention to Jesus' gospel teaching and not to ignore so great a salvation that comes through Christ alone.

Hebrews 1:5-14 quotes seven Old Testament passages to show that Jesus is superior to the angels.

The opening verses of the book of Hebrews make it clear God is a God who has spoken and His definitive word has come to us through Jesus Christ His Son. These verses are packed with details about who Jesus is and what He has done.

Today we begin a journey through the book of Hebrews in the New Testament. This message serves as an introduction to the book of Hebrews. We will look at some reasons why this particular book is needed today and preview some of the themes covered in the book.

In this last message of the book of Haggai, the Lord gives Zerubbabel (and us!) a word that the kingdoms of this world will come to an end. God will do this. God’s Kingdom will reign forever and this will come through a descendant of Zerubbabel (namely Jesus).

God uses the priestly questions in Haggai 2:10–19 to uncover the hidden defilement of His people—their uncleanness infecting all their work and worship. Yet the passage turns from diagnosis to hope, as God calls them to consider their ways and promises blessing from the day they return to Him. Where sin is exposed, God Himself supplies the grace His people lack.

God’s people were discouraged in the work He had given them to do. But God had some encouraging words about their work and about the future.
