There are a few minutes at the end of the day that I’ve been thinking about for a long time.
You pull into the driveway.
You put the car in park.
You turn the engine off.
And then you don’t get out.
Not because you don’t want to go inside. Not because something is wrong.
Sometimes it’s just the first quiet moment you’ve had all day.
The Car in the Driveway begins there — in that small pause between one part of your life and the next, when nobody is asking you a question, nobody needs an answer, and for a few minutes, you are simply sitting there.
An audio essay from The Carrying, a five-part season about the invisible weight we carry and the ordinary moments where we begin to notice it.
