I spun around and leaning on the left door frame with all my weight, I eased my head out the door and watched as a tall silhouette with a furry companion disappeared into the dark end of the hall. A silent whine began to grow in my left ear. The figure seemed to drift deeper into the darkness then swiftly sank into another open door to the left. Another cold chill ran through my body as a voice in my head told me that, "It didn't look HUMAN!"

I was suddenly overcome with sheer panic. Because of the storm earlier, no one was out on the cliffs today. No one but us. No one would even check on us. Not for a few days at least. We screwed up bad. I fished out my phone but I knew better. "No Service" was in the upper right corner of the screen. Sinking despair that begun when Sam began to choke Rico out was now in full bloom. "What am I going to do?", I whispered out loud to myself, not allowing myself to cry just yet. I just hung there in my little space on the earth and let my legs dangle into the air.

I told them about the trial, how the town hated my family, how we had to change our names, how I had to live with the guilt my whole life, how I had to live with the fact that, even my own parents didn't believe me when I told them what happened to my little brother.... Joey.

So there he was standing at the front door confident that he'd made a good choice. He nearly had to fight back tears of joy before walking into the front door. There was an overwhelming emotion that he was unfamiliar with. His wife told him just this morning just how proud she was of him and that she admired his courage to leave his last job and seek out more in life. The gentleman at the front door knew his name before he ever entered the building. "Good morning Tom, it's good to see you." Tom smiled holding back tears that he would momentarily mistake for fear or sadness. This was a happy moment though. At least he kept telling himself that.

It took a little research but I found out the original family were not hanged but... strangely enough left the manor along with all their belongings...."
