TRIGGER WARNING. Todays episode is a well known, highly controversial case. Sadly, it does involve child murder, so listeners, please use your own discretion.

On June 6th of 1996, according to 26 year old Darlie Routier, a man wearing a dark shirt, dark baseball cap, and jeans broke into the home that she lived in with her husband Darin, their two eldest sons; Damon and Devon, and their 8 month old baby Drake.  Darlie had been asleep in the family living room with Damon and Devon, when the unknown intruder attacked all three.  Nothing was stolen, even though Darlie had actually left thousands of dollars worth in jewellery out on the kitchen counter.  Even weirder, was that this ‘intruder’ had used a knife from the Routiers butcher block.

Was Darlie a victim of a horrible assault, as well as every mothers worst nightmare, or was there more to it than she was saying.
