Dasha Gordon’s childhood was filled with trauma, from the loss of her mother to mental illness at a young age, to instability in the foster care system. But through perseverance and discovering yoga, she was able to transform her life experiences into helping others heal.
In a candid conversation on the LOA Today podcast, Dasha shared her personal journey overcoming immense challenges. “I became part of the happiness expert is really like a mental health healer, and you know, somebody who’s really dove deep into that journey. I understand from age seven, the power and the importance of your mind, your mental health and your physical health, and then how it’s all interrelated,” she said.
Dasha’s experiences with trauma continued into adulthood, from accidents to health issues. But she found solace in meditation, yoga, and spirituality. “Yoga was one of the number one science backed solutions for PTSD, like when you incorporate also the breathwork, and the meditation and all the different aspects of yoga,” she noted.
This led Dasha to pursue yoga teacher training, which she said “healed me like completely.” She went on to help countless others through her teachings and challenges on YouTube, which reached millions.
But Dasha also struggled with burnout from pushing herself too hard to overcome deep-seated feelings of not being enough. Asking herself what would bring her joy, she left everything behind to fully dedicate herself to yoga and mindfulness.
Now, Dasha is working to make yoga and meditation accessible to those who need it most through her nonprofit Bright Future Foundation. She aims to help military members dealing with PTSD through breathwork bracelets and her BFF Gift Club initiative.
Dasha’s resilience in the face of adversity and dedication to helping others transform their lives through awareness, breath, and presence is an inspiration. Her story shows how facing trauma with courage, stillness, and community can pave the way for inner and outer healing.
