A code blue alert issued by the state for 20 counties across Utah. When temps fall to the mid- teens code blue kicks in -- homeless shelters allowed to expand max capacity to get more people inside and government buildings can immediately open up to house homeless individuals from extreme cold. Utahns woke to freezing temperatures and icy roads on Monday. Dave and Debbie speak with Andy Farnsworth from the KSL Traffic Center about the latest issues on the roads as well as KSL Meteorologist Matt Johnson on what's coming for the rest of the day with weather.

The race for Utah Senate will continue at the same time they begin gearing up for the start of the General Session on January 16th Congress will continue budget discussions and hopefully try to come to compromises across party lines in the face of the looming government shutdown deadline on January 18th.  Park City is taking on childcare relief within its community. The City Council has just approved a $1 Million budget that would allocate up to $1700 per month for eligible children up to kindergarten.
