Dave and Dujanovic devote an hour to as many back to school issues they can discuss in that time. The segment begins with a call from Mary Catherine Perry, a parent in the Salt Lake City School District. She'll discuss what's got her worried about sending her children back to school.
Next, the struggle to keep grades up when classes shut down is real and it's ongoing. Dave and Debbie talk with Jadee Talbott Director of Family and Community Engagement with the Granite School District. They'll try toarm parents with the things they can do now to assess where their child is on the academic ladder.
One of the elephants in the room is COVID-19, and how to keep kids safe from it at school. Dr. Neal Davis, Medical Director of Pediatrics at Intermountain Healthcare, discusses parents' health concerns related to their children.
The KSL Townhall: Back to School continues with a discussion about the Safe UT app. As kids are going back to school they’re going to face tough challenges including bullies, COVID-19, and facemasks. Denia-Marie Ollerton, Clinical Mental Health Counselor and the Safe UT supervisor discusses mental health concerns for students and information on the SAFE UT app.
Finally, Dave and Debbie look into how the physical wellbeing of students can impact their learning, and what parents can do to increase motivation in this area. Sally Williams Health & PE Curriculum Specialist with Canyons School District joins the discussion.
