Kayleigh is heading to the UK this weekend for the 2nd round of the F1000 UK championship. Which in layman's terms is a race carried out on a 1000 CC bike engine, which has you going from 0- 60 Km per hour in 3 seconds and up to speeds of 150MPH.Having started with Karting 3 or 4 years back Kayleigh wanted more of a challenge, her love for motor racing came about when she attended rallies with her father from a young age and decided she was sick of watching from the sideline and wanted to be behind the wheel. Sally has a smokehouse between Skibbereen and Castletownsend in rural West Cork She has first-hand experience of the fishing industry, as she was married to a fisherman. SECAD Sustainable Communities Training Programme is a FREE programme aimed at community groups, volunteers, businesses, young people and individuals who are interested in developing and nurturing sustainability within their local communities. The initiative will support participating communities to identify sustainability goals, while helping them to develop a community plan that strives for social, environmental and economic benefits for all. The core programme will run until June 2022, beginning in September this year with a series of weekly workshops that will cover a wide range of important sustainability topics. This latest initiative follows SECAD’s 2019-20 ‘My Town, My Plan’ programme, during which eight communities (Clonakilty, Skibbereen, Rosscarbery, Kinsale, Carrigaline, Youghal, Cobh and Midleton) started a process of planning for their local area. The closing date to register for the introductory workshops is 24th May. Announcing the launch of a Fund it crowdfunding campaign for Cork-based singer, songwriter Kevin Walsh, in support of his debut single, Embrace the World, a super-group song in aid of the Autism charity, AsIAm. Kevin’s inspiration for the super-group style of performance comes from the Band Aid charity singles of Bob Geldof, and the recently successful Irish Women in Harmony singles. AsIAm, set up by Adam Harris in 2014, aims to provide a one-stop shop for the Autism community in Ireland. Their mission statement emphasises education, empowerment, advocacy and community, four areas which strongly resonate with Kevin, who was diagnosed with Autism at the age of five. ‘Music is my way of expressing myself to the world around me,’ says Kevin. Phil who holds the 100 metres record as Ireland's fastest woman has teamed up with Clóna as Ambassador for Clóna’s New Vitamin Enriched Milk. Clóna was founded in Cork in 1919, by the Hurley family on their Clonakilty farm, they can also claim to having the first pasteurised milk bottles in Munster. Phil will compete in this year’s Olympics and hopes it will be in 3 separate events, 200 Metres, 400 Metres and mixed relay. We wish her all the best in her endeavours!
