Speaking from personal experience as a beneficiary of the service with her daughter Alex. Jennifer talks about previously needing to travel to the hospital on some occasions 5 times a week initially. However with this service for Children and Teens it puts the patient at ease in the comfort of their own home. This year the service has carried out 655 home visits during 2019. Travelling almost 32,000 Km whilst providing support to 32 different families. Jennifer is encouraging people to donate to their fund this year, last year the fund was just short of 100 K. After completing her BA in Popular Music at CIT Cork School of Music, where she graduated with First Class Honors in May 2018, Cork singer songwriter Ruth Brosnanset off to LA on a graduate visa to learn more about the music business. While in LA, she entered an online competition called The Great American Song Contest and was chosen as a finalist with her debut single, Good Enough,which she says was a great honour. It was also something for which she has had a lifetime of training. “I always wanted to be a performer. I did a lot of acting and singing with The Performers in the Firkin Crane with Irene Warren, I had been in The Monforts and I was in the Cork Schoolof Dance with Sinead Murphy. I was in pantos with Bryan Flynn and I’m so delighted I got to work with him. Eoin has been working with the arts sector for 24 years, both as an artist in his own right and working with disabled artists and musicians, Last weekend a virtual conference was held in cork on the topic. The initiative has the backing of Conal Creedon and John Spillane, who recorded videos for the event, allowing the public to see cork in all its glory online.He also talksabout the rights that people with these challenges have to participate in cultural life in the form of article 30. Originating as part of the Clon Bike Festival 9 years ago, the Clonakilty Bike Circus is a non profit workshop aimed at teaching you to build, maintain and mend your own Bikes. Jack tells Dave the story and also talks up his recent conversion to the e-bike revolution and talks about how he has become an e-bike ambassador. A street art initiative - underway until October 31st at various locations across the City - Ardú (as Gaelige for Rise) arrives with the intention of injecting colour, vibrancy, and life into the city and aims to unite the Leeside community through art, lifting its creative energy at a time when it needs it most. The programme welcomes seven of Ireland’s most respected and renowned street artists: MASER, Shane O’Driscoll, Deirdre Breen, Peter Martin, James Earley, ACHES, and Garreth Joyce, to create works at key city-centre locations, in response to a theme inspired by the 1920 Burning of Cork, the murals will appear at Harley’s Street, Wandesford Quay, The Kino, Anglesea Street, Liberty Street, Kyle Street, and Henry Street. www.corkcity.ie/ardu
