Dave 'Softy' Mahler and Dick Fain

With another loss at home, the regular season ended in a disappointing manner, at least on paper, and of course the last minute or so of the game just added to the overall frustration. Nonetheless, the Hawks are in the playoffs, just headed to Philadelphia instead of getting a home game, with possibly an easier road than if they'd actually won that game. Pete Carroll updates us on injuries, his thoughts on the game, and more in his Monday press conference. Locally, the Seahawks are getting hit hard for the end of the game last night, but the national media's narrative is completely different, and Softy knows why. Kevin Kugler called the game on Westwood One last night. He shares his thoughts on the game, Marshawn's impact, the last couple of minutes, and the playoffs.

There were a lot of mixed emotions coming away from last night's game. Obviously, the slow start, and the issues at the end left many fans frustrated, but it's also amazing how much this team has accomplished, especially with the injuries they've suffered. Now they have a chance to fix mistakes but they'll have to do it quickly. Could it have actually been a positive that they lost last night? Philly is arguably going to be an easier opponent than Minnesota, and then playing in San Francisco is probably better than having to go t New Orleans or Green Bay. Anyone who grew up watching the Miami teams of 30 years ago would never have believed they'd be held scoreless by Louisiana Tech in a bowl game, but that's what happened before today's show. Nonetheless, Dick is here for a shortened show to cover everything that's happened over the last few days while we enjoyed the holidays. Jacob Eason has announced that he'll be headed off to the NFL, while Elijah Molden and Levi Onwuzurike have decided to come back to Montlake for next season. The big news of course is that Beast Mode is back and ready to tear up the Niners on Sunday. Yeah, Sunday's game was rough, but remember, the Hawks are still 11-4 and in the fight for the division. They're already 2 1/2 wins above where Vegas expected them to be. Nonetheless, conversations over the holiday break show that Seahawks fans are still heavily critical of a team that has achieved so much. Dick caught up with Luke Willson on Christmas Eve to talk about the changes in the backfield, the game plan against San Francisco, and what Marshawn brings to the locker room.
