As we bring today's market to a close, all eyes are beginning to turn to inflation, as we will get three of the world's largest economies reporting their inflation rates over the next 18 hours.

Most interesting for those of us who follow this reading carefully, all three indicators are expected to show a slowing inflation rate.

Finally, in what has to be the most unusual merger of the year. A women's apparel company: Naked Brands has agreed to purchase electric vehicle maker Centro Automotive Group. Price and details to follow.

For those of us who live in the nation's “snow belt” now is the time that winter approaches. The calendar may say we have another month or so before winter officially begins. But here in the Pennsylvania Hills, we've already had our first hard freezes, and the growing season is officially over.

At The close today we see stocks finish higher, although just barely, bonds were lower.

A very interesting day, as the Federal Reserve rolled out the big guns to address the financial community. Five Fed speeches today, including Fed Chair Powell, and Vice Chair Clarida.

Against almost every measure the dollar retreated today. Against gold, the dollar was down. Against oil, the dollar is down. Against the major currencies: The Euro, The British Pound, Japanese Yen, and of course against all the Crypto Currencies, the dollar was down.

It was another strong weekly open for stocks. As all three major averages gaped open at the start of trading.

Now about 2 ½ hours later stocks are drifting, with little direction at the moment.
