The guys from Dawgman.com were in Indianapolis this week to take part in the Big Ten Media Days, held at Lucas Oil Stadium. With the Washington Huskies up on day three of the three-day event, it was clear they saved the best interviews for last.
You can listen to over 35 minutes of questions asked of the three UW player representatives on hand; running back Jonah Coleman, linebacker Carson Bruener, and safety Kamren Fabiculanan. They were asked their thoughts on joining the Big Ten Conference, some of the games they have circled this coming fall, the change in leadership from Kalen DeBoer to Jedd Fisch, players to look out for, and a ton more.
Media days are a great way to catch up and get the latest news not only with players and coaches, but also with other media that you haven't seen for a minute. Such was the case with longtime Oregon-based sportswriter John Canzano, known for his show 'The Bald Faced Truth'.
Dawgman.com's Kim Grinolds sat down with Canzano Wednesday afternoon at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis during a break in the Big Ten Media Day action to get John's thoughts on covering a new conference, the news that Lucas Oil Stadium will be hosting the Big Ten Championship game for the next four seasons, and the NCAA news that scholarship numbers will jump up starting next season, meaning football, to use them as an example, will go from 85 scholarships to 105.
Kim also asked John about leaving the newspaper realm, staking a claim and becoming his own boss with 'The Bald Faced Truth'. You can check out everything that John is doing with his new site at this address: johncanzano.com
Former Washington Head Coach Rick Neuheisel, now a current College Football Today analyst for the CBS Sports Network, answered a number of questions from the media at hand during Day Two of the Big Ten Media Days at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
Dawgman.com's Kim Grinolds was in the group asking questions.
A quick sampling of the questions that were asked:
Advice to Lincoln Riley going into his third year at USC...
The impact of two-hour and three-hour time differences between the west coast programs and those in the central and eastern time zones...
On UCLA's new direction under Deshaun Foster...
His take on Oregon Head Coach Dan Lanning...
His take on the mayhem that followed Washington after playing in the National Championship game, with a focus on Jedd Fisch...
His recent trip to Alabama to see Kalen DeBoer...
Dawgman.com's Kim Grinolds was able to track down Yogi Roth at Big Ten Media Days in Indianapolis to find out about next steps for the former Pac-12 Networks analyst, who is now working for the Big Ten Network.
They talked about the Pac-12 going away, suddenly being without a job but with a family to support, and channeling his passion for west coast football with a new venture; Y-Option. It's a podcast that covers a lot of familiar territory in terms of Pac-12 teams, both current and former, but with an eye always toward spotlighting the stories out west that need to be told.
Kim and Yogi also took a bit of a trip down memory lane when asked about the memorable games, players, and coaches he covered while working for the Pac-12 Network.
The guys from Dawgman.com - Chris Fetters and Scott Eklund - had plenty to talk about today as Washington's recruiting efforts have really been humming along.
As of the time of this recording, the Huskies had the 17th-best recruiting class in the country, ranked by 247Sports, and more verbal commitments should be on the horizon.
In fact, when we posted our last recruiting update, the Huskies ended up with multiple commitments during the following 48 hours.
Who knows if that is a trend that will continue with this podcast, but here's what we know so far...
There have been six additional verbal commitments to Washington since our last recording:

Scott offers up his insight on each of UW's latest committed players before taking a quick break to pay some bills.

And Scott also just spoke with another top target, Pensacola (Fla.) Escambia safety Ladarian Clardy, to get his thoughts on when he plans on making his decision, as well as where the Huskies stand.
To wrap up the 70-minute recruiting discussion, Scott gives his final thoughts on whether the Huskies will sign more than 25 players in the 2025 class, as well as his take on Jedd Fisch's comments about trying to build the 'greatest ever' UW recruiting class.
The guys from Dawgman.com - Chris Fetters and Scott Eklund - got up bright and early to break down the latest string of verbal commitments for Washington coming out of their last weekend of official visits.

Dawgman's Scott Eklund and Kim Grinolds sit down and discuss another big recruiting weekend for the Washington Huskies. They go through each of the visitors (except for two LaRue Zamorano and Ramonz Adams) and also talk about the recruiting landscape, what numbers to expect and where things go from here.
With a huge recruiting weekend behind the Washington Huskies, Dawgman.com's Scott Eklund and 247 National Recruiting Editor Brandon Huffman sit down to catch up on the recruiting landscape. They also go through a number of Washington's top targets and where the Huskies stand with each.
The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - dust off their microphones and get back to the business at hand, and for the Washington football coaches there's a lot of business at hand this weekend.
But before the guys dig into a big recruiting weekend, they play catchup on some of the recent UW Athletics topics, including a TV schedule update for football, as well a quick updates for men's basketball and softball.
After a quick break to pay some bills, the rest of the podcast is all about recruiting. The Huskies are hosting 17 high school prospects from all over the place starting yesterday. What are the official visits like? Will the coaches push for commitments this weekend or continue to lay the groundwork and push for a commitment closer to the mid-year signing period?
You can find the complete list of official visitors HERE.
Scott then gives his thoughts on three prospects that stick out to him, as well as a couple more he feels the UW coaches are really high on.
This weekend is also the weekend for the Avery Strong Showcase, held Sunday at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma. Jedd Fisch is expected to be in attendance for part of the showcase.
The podcast wraps up with the guys thoughts on the weekend, as well as Scott's prediction for how many verbal commits the Huskies could harvest from this upcoming weekend.
The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - wrapped up Friday night's 'Dawgs After Dark' at Husky Stadium by recording some of their own thoughts on the night, the attendance, what they saw during the roughly 75-play scrimmage, the standouts, and what the next few weeks and months are going to look like for UW Football as they continue to construct their roster and put things in place ahead of the 2024 season.
To start, the guys talked about the atmosphere at Husky Stadium, having the spring game at night (it was a good idea and probably should continue to be done at night), how the game went, some of the standout plays, and also offered up some very unofficial statistics.
After a quick break, the second half of the podcast mostly centered around recruiting, which was a focal point of the night, and will consume the UW staff's every movement for the next few weeks as they hit the road to find players for the 2025 class and beyond, while still having one eye on what's going on at home due to the transfer portal, setting up official visits, etc...
