Here is everything Washington Head Coach Kalen DeBoer said to the media after Washington's first day of fall camp, a two-and-a-half hour practice under beautiful summer Seattle skies.
The Washington Huskies took the field for their first day of fall camp under sunny skies and 70 degree temps. The guys from Dawgman.com were there and following the two-hour practice, they sat down to put a bow on what they saw.
They discussed how efficient the offense looked and how Michael Penix Jr. looked like he was in mid-season form.
Following that, they took a look at the tailbacks and discussed the battle between Cameron Davis, Dillon Johnson, Will Nixon, Sam Adams, Daniyel Ngata and Tybo Rogers and who looks like the most-ready to take over for Wayne Taulapapa.
Johnson was getting his first significant reps since arriving in the spring. He definitely looks the part, but two of the guys felt that Davis had set himself apart from the rest and is the clear favorite to start at the tailback position.
They then turned their attention to the wide receiver group and discussed how players like Germie Bernard and Denzel Boston would likely be starting at several programs in the country, but both are likely to see limited targets this fall with Rome Odunze, Jalen McMillan and Ja'Lynn Polk demanding a lot of attention. Throw in three talented freshmen and the Huskies are in great shape for the forseeable future in the receiver corps.
Moving over to the defensive side of the ball, the guys talked about the move of Voi Tunuufi to EDGE and how he looked along with the rest of the room, including Bralen Trice and Zion Tupuola-Fetui, Lance Holtzclaw and Milton Hopkins Jr.
They also looked at the depth along the defensive line and linebacker and gave an early look at the secondary where Elijah Jackson and Jabbar Muhammad look to be the leading candidates to man the corner spots once the season gets underway in September.
The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - met up in person for the first time since the end of spring football to hash out the latest news coming out of the Pac-12, and it's been a busy few days. Gone is Colorado, and now reports have Pac-12 Commissioner George Kliavkoff set to announce the parameters of a new media deal to the conference members within the next 48 hours.
So what to make of all the news? In the first half of the 40-minute podcast, Kim and Chris give their thoughts on Colorado leaving, what a new media rights deal may accomplish in the short term, and whether or not the Pac-12 will add a member to get back to 10 for the start of the 2024 season, or expand even further. Scott joins in at the end of the discussion to give his thoughts and then the guys move right into Washington fall camp, which is set to begin Wednesday morning.
They give their initial thoughts on the quarterback and running back positions, with emphasis on the news that the Huskies picked up a brand-new quarterback recently in former SDSU signal-caller Will Haskell, who will have to sit out the 2023 season per transfer rules.
After a short break to pay a few bills, the guys come back with the things they are excited to look forward to when camp breaks Wednesday morning. With special emphasis on the offensive line and defensive backfield, Chris and Scott talk about the position battles they are curious about, as well as the players they want to see step up and take starting roles.
After that, Kim gives us his cliff's notes from Pac-12 Media Day, including his conversations with USC linebacker Mason Cobb (who played alongside current UW DB Jabbar Muhammad at Oklahoma State), former UW DE Laiatu Latu, now at UCLA, and former UW assistant coach Justin Wilcox, now head coach at California.
The guys then give their final thoughts heading into fall camp to close out the podcast.
Dawgman.com's Kim Grinolds was at Resorts World in Las Vegas Friday for the 2023 Pac-12 Football Media Day, and it turned out to be a pretty eventful one. From Pac-12 Commissioner George Kliavkoff's head-fake toward a media deal announcement, to no Deion Sanders because of his recent surgeries, there was no shortage of Sin City storylines.
Grinolds was able to talk to Washington Head Coach Kalen Deboer, as well as UW quarterback Michael Penix Jr. and linebacker Edefuan Ulofoshio in a number of media settings to get their takes on the upcoming season, what they're looking forward to, what pitfalls they are anticipating, and so much more.
To start the podcast, DeBoer meets with the media to answer their questions, and then there is another media scrum where he fielded more questions.
Then there was a general media session for both Penix and Ulofoshio, and then Grinolds was able to catch the senior linebacker on the side for a one-on-one conversation.
Andrew Ivins and Cooper Petagna discuss Colorado, TCU, Michigan State, and Washington, and if it's time to panic on their 2024 classes or if they're just in a summer slump.

TCU - 18:45

Even though we're into the "deadest" time of the year, that's a relative term because there's still a lot going on, the guys from Dawgman -- Kim Grinolds and Scott Eklund -- thought it would be a good idea to catch Husky fans up on what has been going on. From football, to basketball and recruiting, they spend a little over 30 minutes breaking things down and going over all that has been happening on Montlake.
Their first hit was the football recruiting trail.
Eklund broke down the impending announcement of Los Alamitos (Ca.) LB Kamar Mothudi as well as where things stand currently with in-state four-star prospects Isendre Ahfua and Jason Brown.
They also discussed what the coaches have been up to and what will be happening over the next couple of weeks before the start of fall camp.
Lastly, Grinolds gave an update on the basketball team and talked about one of their latest commitments, former Rutgers guard Paul Mulcahy, and the two discussed three former Husky basketball players -- Isaiah Stewart, Dejounte Murray and Matisse Thybulle -- who are on the cusp of signing big contracts with their NBA teams.
The guys from Dawgman.com - Chris Fetters and Scott Eklund - break down the flurry of activity that has taken place in the last 10 days at Montlake, as the Washington Huskies went from one verbal commit for their 2024 recruiting class - Paki Finau - and turned it into a dozen commits, the last one being DL Dominic Kirks on Friday morning.
In the first half of the show, the guys talk about Kirks' decision, and then go into some details on the other prospects that verbally committed ahead of UW's big D (Decision) Day; Monday the 26th.
That meant talking about the verbal commitments given by Jason Robinson, Justice Williams, and Decker DeGraaf.
After a quick break, the guys then delve into the chaos that ensued this past Monday, starting with the verbal commitment of defensive lineman Omar Khan from the greater-Houston area. Then it was St. John Bosco LB Khmori House, followed quickly by Peoria (Ariz.) Centennial EDGE Noah Carter.
Later in the afternoon, Ratumana Bulabalavu from Carlsbad, Calif. gave his public pledge, and then Etiwanda's Dermaricus Davis made his decision known, giving the Huskies their prep quarterback for the 2024 recruiting class.
Tuesday night it was defensive back Elias Johnson from Jesuit High School in Portland (Jaxson Kirkland's alma mater) who chose Washington over Washington State and Oregon State in a unique reveal (we talk about it), and then on Thursday night Peyton Waters from Van Nuys (Calif.) Birmingham announced his commitment to Washington over UCLA, Utah, Stanford, Northwestern, USC, and others.
Chris and Scott go in-depth on each one, and at the end of the podcast give UW fans an idea of what they should expect next from the Huskies in recruiting as things start to slow down as the summer creeps into the Emerald City.
247Sports National Recruiting Editor Brandon Huffman joins Andrew Ivins to talk about Washington's and Stanford's recruiting hot streak as well as the takeaways from the Under Armour Future 50 at IMG Academy.

The guys from Dawgman.com - Chris Fetters and Scott Eklund - got together to preview the six prospects that are scheduled to take official visits to Washington this upcoming weekend.
In the first part of the podcast, the guys talked about how, with nearly 30 official visits scheduled for these next two weekends, Washington's recruiting efforts is mirroring a lot of what they did last year, but with a couple of new twists.
Now that Washington has an 11-2 story they can sell on the recruiting trail, they aren't as gung-ho to try and wrap up a lot of their recruiting work early. They are willing to wait a little bit longer in the hopes their longer-game approach can bear fruit the closer they get to mid-December for the mid-year signing period.
The other thing to consider is that recruits now have unlimited opportunities to take official visits. That means the potential for more recruits to take late visits in the cycle, and with that the possibility of late flips.
After a quick break, Chris and Scott focus on the six players taking official visits this coming weekend, including two current UW commits.
Here they are.
Seattle (Wash.) Garfield QB EJ Caminong
Henderson (Nev.) Liberty WR Landon Bell
Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon WR Kwazi Gilmer
Cleveland (Ohio) Villa Angela-St. Joseph DL Dominic Kirks
Valley Village (Calif.) Campbell Hall LB Kamar Mothudi
Long Beach (Calif.) Poly LB Dylan Williams
