Ketkrókur, sá tólfti,

kunni á ýmsu lag.-

Hann þrammaði í sveitina

á Þorláksmessudag.

Hann krækti sér í tutlu,

þegar kostur var á.

En stundum reyndist stuttur

stauturinn hans þá.

English version of the poem about Ketkrókur

Meat Hook, the twelfth one

his talent would display

as soon as he arrived

on Saint Thorlak´s Day.

He snagged himself a morsel

of meet of any sort,

although his hook at times

was a tiny bit short.

Icelandic Christmas Tradition

Christmas candies! I feel like a holiday in Iceland is not complete without some kind of candy that is made especially for this time of the year.

The big candy producers like Nóí Sírius, Apollo and Góa all have some type of candy during this time. I especially love Jóladýr, which is a vegan candy from Freyja. It is dark chocolate with creamy mint filling. So tasty and way too easy to eat the whole bag.
