Day 5 of Tyler McCain’s preliminary hearing in the disappearance of his wife, Nikki Cheng Saelee-McCain. Testimony included details from Luis B., a DOJ criminalist, and Tyler’s mother, Jeanette Hayward. Key evidence, including DNA findings and witness accounts, is emerging as the judge considers whether this case will proceed to trial.

Tyler McCain was arrested in August 2025 and charged with murder with special circumstances in what is Shasta County’s first “no body” homicide case. He has pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail. The preliminary hearing is expected to last several days, and I’ll continue to share updates as it unfolds.
