Moses recounts the journey that the Israelites have taken over these 40 years from Egypt to the edge of the promised land. It is good to look back and remember where we have come from. But he also looks across the river and tells them that the land is theirs. But they must take it. I see this as a metaphor for the conquering of sin in my own life. God has bought it all, but I'm too eager to make alliances with my sin instead of eradicating it.
