We have the experience of light and darkness every day. In our physical realm, there is day and night. In the spiritual realm, it is life or death. Jesus taught, God is light and there is no darkness in Him. This more than we can understand, yet it is totally true. Jesus said He came into the world as a light. John described Jesus as the light of life. And Jesus told us that even we are the light of the world, if He is in us. What is this connection? In the beginning. When we hear that phrase we immediately think of the creation of the world. Our perspective is from our point in time. In the beginning was a long, long time ago. Yet, God was before time started. And Jesus was and still is the Living Expression of Father God. Time and eternity. Jesus, God joining us in Time, and Jesus, existing as God, Creator, before Time. All that was made was done for us. Beauty for ashes, a light in darkness, a promise set deep in our hearts that there’s more – that time may end, but we will not.

The light Jesus brought was a spiritual one. We can not see it with our eyes, yet we sense it when we meet others who are lit by the presence of Jesus in them. There’s a gentleness to the face, and often compassion in the eyes. The lamp of the Lord, is the light of life – Jesus. It is He who shed light on our human soul, who illumi-nates the darkness shares the knowledge of God to us. As we’re asked, let’s live as children of light and find out what pleases God.
