Memory is a precious tool. Our brains store thoughts and emotions for us to retrieve later. Through practice, we train our brains to retrieve these thoughts bringing to our consciousness for use. We take for granted we will remember all we have been taught, but without practice of retrieval and repetition we are likely to forget, to not remember. God tells us to ‘remember’ – who He is, what He has promised and who we are to Him. Practice remembering. Listen repeatedly to His truths about life, about us, and about Him.

One of the most amazing statements in Scripture is that by being in Christ, we are complete. We are whole. We are not lacking. It is a complete truth. It is amazing because we see flaws, brokenness, and weaknesses. God tells us we are already made new people, whole and holy. He stands with open arms telling us we are healed. We can stay frozen where we are or we can step into His kingdom and live in who He says we really are.

Understanding goes hand in hand with wisdom and knowledge. Each has a purpose and each supports the other. I love this saying from Proverbs: “People’s thoughts can be like a deep well, but someone with understanding can find the wisdom there.” Patience and self-control make room for comprehension to assess the challenges they we face every day. Taking time to reflect and wait for God, helps us learn better ways to respond and love others.

As a child of God we have been given many things, and direct access to Him is one of them. Many people yearn to please Him, to see Him and try all manner of ways to reach Him, yet our trust and belief of Jesus' death on our behalf gives us immediate access to Creator God who become our Father. We run through the throne room into His arms. His explosive love envelopes us as we lean in and trust Him to hold us still.

Consider the power of rulers who speak with grace and use their authority for justice and truth. Such a person is worthy of praise, and worthy of honor. How majestic is the One who carries the power of Truth to people, who depend on the wisdom of God to rule the heart of the king.

Each of us has been given divine gifts to contribute to the growth of others. As we allow the Holy Spirit to use these gifts through us, they are effectively applied and we are all built up and made perfect in His love. For Love to flourish, we must trust God with ourselves.

Let’s be honest. When things are hard and we seem to be losing on every side; when everything goes wrong and we are unable to change the circumstances in which we find ourselves it is easy to think God has left us alone. He has turned His back. He isn’t paying attention right now. This Psalm cries out for God’s attention – to wake up. Yet, listen closely to the last line – rescue me because of Your unfailing love. Love never fails. God never fails. We can depend on it.

These scriptures give us perspective of God's dominion and reach. They remind us that Creator God is also the only one with power and dominion over the universe. As God's children, we are in awe of all we see - powers and authorities in heaven and on earth acknowledging His rule. May we not forget, as we too, belong to Him.

Have you ever felt so alone and oppressed that you thought God had abandoned you? The Psalmist cries of living in shame even though he has not forgotten God. There are times in our lives when hope for relief seem to be dissolving as they drift away from us. We search our hearts to see we still trust in the pain of unwarranted shame. In that trust, we remind God of His unfailing love – a love that heals and restores. That changes everything.

Our union with Jesus is a holy mystery. There may be moments when we experience being enveloped by perfect Love and times when we sense perfect Peace. Yet, whether or not we sense or feel Him, the truth is He is with us, we are with Him just as He said in John 17:22, "The goal is for all of them to become one heart and mind—Just as you, Father, are in me and I in you, So they might be one heart and mind with us." In this union, we give grace to others, speak of His love for them and live today as one who is God's child.
