Grace is a word we use often, yet I wonder if we’re aware of the power and magnitude of the word. As an action of God, it erases our guilt. As an action of ours, it should pardon the sins of others. We are quick as seek acquittal yet we can be slow to grant it. Father, would you show us where we can be more like Jesus in this? Would you remind us of the strength in this characteristic of love – that keeps no record of wrong, but embodies the gentleness of forgiveness in the midst of justified wrongs.

It was Jesus' prayer before being arrested that we would be blessed by our Father. Jesus speaks clearly and without pretense with God as he asks that we benefit from his big 'ask' - "make them holy by the truth". He could have asked for our comforts in this world, or for taking us out of the world, but he knew the very core of existence here was to live spiritually alive and to receive our strength from God. Being holy is to be light and love in our world that is seeking both to see and to be seen.

One of the new paraphrases of the Scriptures describes faith as reaching into the future! Imagine! We find it difficult to consider this concept yet, isn’t that where God is? In the future, beyond time, in an eternal now? If that is so, might our faith, when expressed as trust and belief transport our spirit to God’s throne where we declare with confidence our trust in God’s goodness, His power and that His will be done here as it is already done in heaven? Listen closely as the scriptures reveal truths for you to live in, to believe today – for your life – today.

Listen to Jesus' prayer, His honest appraisal of His relationship with Father God and His deep love for His disciples and for us! His heart is so transparent that we feel a hush in the room, even though we weren't there at the time. How amazing it is for us to realize He had developed the same heart for His followers and the world as His Father has. Is that not, the heart we are to ask for?

Wisdom is a gift from God. It is more precious than jewels, and more valuable than money. It cannot be measured yet we know it is must be sought. God says to ask for it. And only with God’s help can we understand what He gives us. Let God open your mind to what His wisdom will do for you and in you. Just ask Him.

The first section of the third chapter of Colossians tells us about our identity. These verses instruct us as to how we should live. As God's children, as those who have His character within us, His virtues are our virtues. God's way of responding in love, demonstrating how to love, is our mandate as well. Prayerfully engage God in your day, asking Him to be love through you to those who are hard to love, who need to be loved, who will see love only as you love them.

Peter laid out for us the progression for growing up, for maturing as adults. They are choices we make in behavior forming our character. From faith to goodness to knowledge, we apply our understanding and trust God to add and increase our capacity for goodness and more knowledge. It is in our search for more of God that we receive so much more – causing us to grow up into the persons God designed, and desires us to be.

Jesus' words to our Father are the urging and desires of love. Wanting nothing more than we would experience the riches of understanding. How we desire that as well! So much is made known when we trust God's timing, God's direction and God's whispers.
