Grace is a word we use often, yet I wonder if we’re aware of the power and magnitude of the word. As an action of God, it erases our guilt. As an action of ours, it should pardon the sins of others. We are quick as seek acquittal yet we can be slow to grant it. Father, would you show us where we can be more like Jesus in this? Would you remind us of the strength in this characteristic of love – that keeps no record of wrong, but embodies the gentleness of forgiveness in the midst of justified wrongs.

The wisdom of the Psalm 37 captures the essence of understanding the relationship of trusting God and living our purpose: "Give God the right to direct your life, and as you trust him along the way, you’ll find he pulled it off perfectly!" It is only in letting go of what you want that you receive the direction, wisdom and strength to fulfill your purpose.

God wants us to know Him. Believing He is good, takes our trust to a new level. A Father whose character of pure love and goodness, is a Father we can love and trust. As Paul wrote, “we pray that by his power all the pleasures of goodness and all works inspired by faith would fill you completely.”

These scriptures give us perspective of God's dominion and reach. They remind us that Creator God is also the only one with power and dominion over the universe. As God's children, we are in awe of all we see - powers and authorities in heaven and on earth acknowledging His rule. May we not forget, as we too, belong to Him.

Our union with Jesus is a holy mystery. There may be moments when we experience being enveloped by perfect Love and times when we sense perfect Peace. Yet, whether or not we sense or feel Him, the truth is He is with us, we are with Him just as He said in John 17:22, "The goal is for all of them to become one heart and mind—Just as you, Father, are in me and I in you, So they might be one heart and mind with us." In this union, we give grace to others, speak of His love for them and live today as one who is God's child.

The scriptures say it so well, “For the sense and reason of the flesh is death, but the mind-set controlled by the Spirit finds life and peace.” If we focus our thoughts, asking God’s Spirit to fill our minds, guide our thoughts, we will live in peace, no matter our circumstances.
