Let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream! (Amos 5:24). God’s words ring clear throughout the Scriptures – do right, defend the oppressed, give to the poor. Justice and right-living go hand-in-hand.

In the midst of anything, the gospel can either change us or change the situation. The key is to continue to focus on the gospel, the good news. God assures us He works everything for our good and according to his purpose. And what is His purpose? To bring us into the likeness of His Son. Jesus has been victorious over all things! So, if God is for us, who can be against us? God’s love never ceases, never fails.

Today's meditation is inspired by phrases within the liturgy of the Mass and used in several of the sacramental denominations. Beethoven’s “Mass in C Major, Opus 86” includes the words beautifully sung in Latin. The meditation’s words are paraphrased but prayerfully only add, to the actual words of the liturgy’s reverence, awe, and wonder for our Lord. As you listen today, take in the beauty and wonder of the majesty of God, who loves you.

It is God's desire to dwell with us. Jesus, the Son of God, bridged the gulf between heaven and earth. It is the Spirit of God that sustaiins us, a gift from God that He is with us here and that we will be with Him in heaven when we die. We are not alone here and we will always be cared for by God, wherever we are. He is with us and we are with Him, even though we don’t yet see it all fully.

This morning’s meditation is taken from the song, “O Breathe on Me, O Breath of God” by Edwin Hatch (1835-1889). We are told in Genesis it was the breath of God that brought life to Adam. God’s breath is present still, bringing, us life today. Ponder each verse as we meditate, in gratitude, what springs to life from the breath of God.

We may not always understand the totality of Jesus power, a divine and perfect source for all that produces effective living: faith, goodness, self-control and love. To forget these qualities are ours is to forget we are now clean from our past sins and made fit for kingdom living now.

Father, give us the courage we need to speak, to articulate hope and a future to those who doubt, who despair of help. Would you let us see what You see - those hearts that cry for hope, who wonder if there's any chance for change in their lives? Would you soften our hearts toward others and accept Your love that even we spurn when we're rebellious of Your direction and guidance? Grant us the grace to forgive ourselves as we forgive others, so You, Father, are honored by our behavior.

Our challenge in this life is to let our spirit in Jesus, be the lens through which we view life and other people. Life and light extend way beyond the physical realm of our senses. Paul wisely advises, to fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. Enter this time of quiet with confidence there's more than we see and God has control of it all.

When Christ was raised from the dead, we were raised with Him. (Col. 3:3) Living from a resurrected perspective means viewing our lives from God's priorities. Love and gentleness supersede pride and personal rights. Let God's Word breathe life into you today and see from a new perspective.
