We are asked to trust Jesus' words. He said sustaining Life is Him. In Him. By Him. Because of Him. Do we trust Him? On the tree of death He gave His physical life. As the source of all life, the Tree of Life, we are invited to eat and be filled. Let us delight ourselves in Him, in His presence with us, in the eternal life we have even now. Because of His act of faith that Father God would keep His word and give us life because we have faith in Jesus’ name.

Mercy is Grace’s twin sister, the expression of compassion in response to our cry for help, for forgiveness, for a friendship. It is the kindness of strangers, the extravagance of love undeserved and the willingness to stay in it for the long haul. Mercy is a posture of loving well, as Jesus loved us.

James tells us, . . . faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead (James 2:17). And he goes on to explain that we can say we have faith all day long but the proof is in the pudding, so to speak. If we do have real faith, it will play out in our actions. We can believe a chair will hold us up and then the resulting action of that faith will be that we actually sit in the chair. We may say that we believe in God but what do our actions show? Do we live out that faith, that belief in God, by actually living our lives yielded to Him?

Grace is a word we use often, yet I wonder if we’re aware of the power and magnitude of the word. As an action of God, it erases our guilt. As an action of ours, it should pardon the sins of others. We are quick as seek acquittal yet we can be slow to grant it. Father, would you show us where we can be more like Jesus in this? Would you remind us of the strength in this characteristic of love – that keeps no record of wrong, but embodies the gentleness of forgiveness in the midst of justified wrongs.

Jesus knew who He was, which gave Him the confidence to live humbly as one who could serve others and not feel slighted, or overlooked. He modeled humility because He believed in His identity and knew God loved Him. God reminds us to "be content with who you are", for in this we will be aligned with God's intent for why we're here.

Peace is from God. We try to generate it, duplicate it and think that by saying it, it happens. It is a spoken word originating from God and given to us. Words are life-giving, or life-taking. Accepting peace is an act of our will, and a posture of our heart through which life is reproduced in the fullness of God-likeness as we carry about the life of Jesus in us. Listen carefully and let the peace of God rule in your heart and mind today.

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you. Listen intently. Seek and find the wisdom that comes from the Father of Lights, who casts no shadow but is the source of our resurrection life. Let's run to Him. His arms are open.

As you listen today, be comforted if you are tired and remember God. Sometimes the stress of our lives prevents us from seeing God’s goodness is never less nor absent from us. It is our experience in the moment that has created a barrier, that seems unsurmountable because it is what we feel, what we hear and what we see. God says, Put your hope in Me – not in how you feel right now. Remember Me. I am your Savior.
