This week, Natalie concludes her two-part lecture on the first three chapters of Hosea. The second part of the teaching covers Hosea 2:14-3:5.

Natalie talks about God's wilderness pursuit of His people, His vision of future restoration, His marriage vows to Israel, and the picture of redemption we get to see in Hosea and Gomer's relationship. We are reminded this week that God's greatest desire for us is that we would desire Him.

Natalie also interviews Elise Herzing, who shares her wisdom and encouragement from her time in the wilderness with God. Elise reminds that God is with us in the wilderness!

This week, Natalie begins a two-part lecture on the first three chapters of Hosea. The first part of the teaching covers Hosea 1:1-2:13.

In her lecture, Natalie talks about what it means to make a covenant with God, other Biblical covenants, and the specific importance of the marriage covenant (1:2-1:3). She walks us through the significance of the names of Hosea's children and what promises follow from those names (1:4-2:1). Natalie also shares her own story of emotional infidelity in marriage and connects that to the story of Hosea and Gomer. Lastly, she explains how idol worship is classified as spiritual adultery and where the specific results of Israel's adultery are found in the text (2:2-2:13).

This week kicks off our 4th annual Dayton Women in the Word Summer Study! This summer, we will be working through the book of Hosea. She walks through the 5 context questions that are helpful to ask before we read, highlights some major themes in the book, discusses the importance of understanding Baal worship, and explains the homework for Session 2.
