*TRIGGER WARNING*
This week we talk about police brutality and the social injustice in America, if you are sensitive to violence, shootings, or anything else closely related to these things we suggest you listen at your own volition.
This week we take a step back to reflect on the current social and political climate of America. We stand in solidarity with the people protesting the social injustices people of color are still facing to this day. Fruitvale Station, based on true events, stars award winning actor Michael B. Jordan as "Oscar" the main character. The story follows him on the last day of the year in 2008 as he navigates, losing his job, trying to get his life on track, and figuring out how to make ends meet when rent is due the next day. Things take a turn for the worst when he gets into an altercation on the train when heading back home, which inevitably gets him and his friends caught up with law enforcement. This movie is a prime example of what many people of color are faced with when approached by law enforcement, and it is important to be educated on how just the color of your skin can mean life or death in these terrible situations.
