D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser has announced she will not seek a fourth term, bringing her decade-long leadership of the nation’s capital to a close in 2027. In a letter to residents, Bowser reflected on her tenure, expressing gratitude for city workers and describing the role as the honor of her life. Bowser, the first Black woman elected mayor of D.C., previously served on the D.C. Council before taking office in 2015.
