James tells us that we should "consider it pure joy . . . whenever you face trials of many kinds" (James 1:2). When we look at the events of the past two years, finding joy has certainly been a challenge. In this episode of the DCC Leadership Podcast, Caleb Garrett, one of DCC's senior practical ministries students, looks at the topic of joy and examines the difference between biblical joy and worldly happiness. You will be encouraged by Caleb's insights as we continue in our Christmas series, the Five Gifts of Advent.
Do you trust God's Word over your lived experience? Would you say that you have "great faith" as a disciple of Christ? in this episode of the DCC Leadership Podcast, we continue looking at the dominant themes of the Advent season and focus on "faith." DCC Bible Professor, Dr. David White, shares why he believes the gift of faith is the one gift that needs to be regifted to completely understand it. Faith, even a little faith, can move mountains and soften a person's heart. What better gift to "regift" this Christmas season!
Do you feel anxious about the season we are in right now? Do the events of the world weigh you down? In this episode of the DCC Leadership Podcast, Dr. Eddy Sanders, Chair of the Practical Ministries Department, begins our Advent series by focusing on the peace that Christ's coming brings to us who call ourselves Christian. You will be encouraged and comforted as we focus on the true meaning of the Christmas season and celebrate the One who "himself is our peace" (Ephesians 2:14). Over the next five weeks we will examine the dominant themes of the Christmas season: peace, hope, faith, love, and joy.
To begin this Thanksgiving holiday week, we want to pause and spend time giving thanks for how God has showed Himself faithful despite the difficult and challenging year that many of us have gone through. In this episode DCC staff members Challis Castleberry and Lorice Perry share the way God has worked in their lives this past year and the important role that prayer has played in that process. In addition, we will introduce you to our NOW Capital Campaign Prayer Initiative that Challis and Lorice are leading for the College. It is our prayer that you and your family will find hope and joy in this season and recall many reasons to give thanks!

In this episode of the DCC Leadership Podcast, Professor Emerita Dr. Cara Snyder shares from her 50 years of teaching English literature. She reminds us that reading classical literature through a "Christian eye" will help us better understand how the lost world is thinking and develop a heart of compassion for those God has put in our path. Mark Worley, the Voice of the DCC Leadership Podcast, shares as well that the Apostle Paul's sermon at the Areopagus in Acts 17 draws from secular literature familiar to his listeners in Athens.
