Born and raised in Italy, Emiliano moved to Vancouver Island in 2015. Always fascinated by fish, he managed to make them his job by becoming a fish veterinarian. As such, he’s currently working as Fish Health Researcher for the Pacific Salmon Foundation and studying diseases in wild and farmed salmon in BC. Emiliano started fishing when he was 6years old, and have been exclusively fly fishing for the last 15 years. When not in the lab, he tries to spend as much time as possible outdoors speycasting for anadromous fish, particular steelhead, or chasing saltwater species around the world, either inshore or bluewater.

On this episode of Dead Drifters Society, we sit down with Martin Gerdin.
Martin is a young glass artist turned fly fisherman living in Basalt, Colorado, near the confluence of the Roaring Fork River and the Frying pan. Having blown glass since the age of 13, he has a robust skillset and knowledge of the material that lends itself to his modern work and passion well; making species of fish frequently targeted on a fly rod. If we look deeper into Martin's past we will find a dark story that is all too common, a battle with addiction. The confluence of glass and trout saved his life in 2019, when fly fishing and glass art came together for him. He now travels the country teaching young people how to blow glass, educating and spreading hope through his redemption arc, and perhaps most importantly seeking out the most beautiful aquatic specimens he can to further inspire his artwork.

On this episode of Dead Drifters Society, we sit down with Scott Wilday. We talk about how he got into fly fishing and how he started his business Lid Rig.
Scott says 'Nobody likes losing flies …. so I found myself halfway up a tree and a few beers deep. Instead of using nippers attached to my pack that I was unable to reach, I ended up using the golf ball marker hat clip to help cut me loose. Voila! Lid Rig was born from lame bachelor party gift, poor fishing skills, and some cold beers'.
Scott founded the innovative fly fishing gear company Lid Rig started by its flagship magnetic Fishing Line Nippers product. Lid Rig has grown to include five products and a growing apparel line.
If Scott isn’t out fly fishing or building Lid Rig, you can find him hanging out with his 5 year-old son Jet or coaching the “Lollipops” soccer team.
If you you need to grab your life time nippers, or some other handy tools, follow Lid Rigs adventures on social media.
