Emma explains her journey with her instagram account and how it can be difficult to maintain an informed background on all issues. She discusses social media activism and performative activism, and explains how sometimes we all can be “performative”. She explains how to tackle performative activism and create intersectionality in the Asian community.

In this episode, Alina and Gen talk to Afshan from @lifesforliving, on what guided her to utilize social media to share her cultural identity. Afshan discusses her experience growing up in a close-minded area to her college experience in a diverse and mixed city, where she discovered her passion for marketing while also talking about the positive and negative aspects of social media and how to deal with internet trolls. Afshan explains the importance of coming from an educated and informed background when sharing any information on social media.
