In today's episode, Alina interviews Beenish Mannan, aka Alina's mom! Beenish worked in Pocatello, Idaho City Council for 1-2 years. Alina and her mom tackle what it is like being an Asian (and Muslim) politician in a conservative town, her experience working on the city council, which was racially homogenous, as well as what it is like to face backlash as a WOC in politics, and also talk about how Asian women are told to not seek out careers, and rather care for their families, which is something councilwoman Mannan had experienced.
In today's episode, Alina and Gen tackle being Asian, especially Asian women, in the STEM and business fields. They talk about the term “Bamboo Ceiling", why Asians aren’t in the top leadership positions in their careers, even about AOC, Michelle Obama, and RBG!
