DressCode Project is a not-for-profit organization that aims to create safer spaces for 2SLGBTQ+ individuals in hair salons and barbershops. The organization was founded in 2017 by Kristin Rankin, a hairstylist from Toronto, Canada. DressCode Project works with salons and barbershops to provide education and training on LGBTQ2S+ issues and create inclusive environments for all individuals regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation. This includes training on appropriate language, respectful communication, and understanding the unique needs of 2SLGBTQ+ clients. The organization also provides a directory of 2SLGBTQ+ friendly hair salons and barbershops, making it easier for individuals to find a safe and welcoming space to get their hair done. The directory is available on their website and includes salons and barbershops from all over the world. DressCode Project has received widespread recognition for its efforts in promoting inclusivity in the hair care industry. The organization has been featured in numerous media outlets, including CBC News, The Huffington Post, and Teen Vogue.
