On today's episode of The Almanack Report, it's time to have a look at the T20 World Cup which began in Australia this week. In particular, we will discuss just how Australia's chances look as they try to defend the title they won last year in the UAE. And in doing so we run the rule over the side that looks like taking the field for the home team, and how the selectors have decided to go all-in on a squad that firing on less than four cylinders, and whether their bluff will pay off.
As well as this - who will be the eventual winner of a tournament that already feels like it is happening too often to really take seriously. With India playing more international T20 cricket than any other country in the last 12 months, can they grab one of the three cricket World titles for their own? Or will England, Pakistan, New Zealand or the canary yellow of Australia be able to thwart them once again.
Finally, Australia has a new ODI captain, one that was not unexpected, but in the process raises questions as to just how much he will do the job, and who will be his bag carrier when he is not. And the David Warner captaincy question has not quite died down yet, so we'll discuss how that may yet play out.
All of that is coming up on this episode of the podcast that continues to bore the crap out of any listeners silly enough to tune in, Thoughts from the Metal Cavern.
