  • Love One Another
The sermon examines 1 John 3 to distinguish true faith from mere profession by highlighting two essential tests: correct doctrine and practical love. It contrasts the hatred of Cain with the sacrificial love of Christ, arguing that genuine justification by faith alone inevitably produces sanctification evidenced by loving the church. The preacher warns against the errors of legalism and antinomianism, asserting that true believers are marked by a desire to obey God and serve their neighbors in deed and truth. This active love serves as the primary evidence that one has passed from death into life and possesses saving faith. Ultimately, the message calls listeners to rest in Christ's righteousness while actively pursuing holiness and unity within the body of believers.

  • Look to Christ
This sermon analyzes Peter's address in Acts 3, emphasizing that the healing of the lame man was performed through the power and faith of Jesus Christ rather than the apostles themselves. The preacher highlights four key titles for Jesus: the Servant glorified by God, the Holy and Just One who provides perfect righteousness, the Prince of Life who conquered death, and the suffering Messiah whose crucifixion fulfilled divine prophecy. Central to the message is the call for believers to repent and turn to Christ, resulting in the blotting out of sins and a time of spiritual refreshing. The text contrasts the comfort of salvation with the solemn warning that those who reject this Prophet will face destruction. Ultimately, the sermon urges the audience to recognize Jesus' absolute control over history and their lives, inviting them to devote themselves fully to Him.

  • Our Merciful and Faithful High Priest
This section of Hebrews continues the theme of Jesus Christ bringing His sons to glory by teaching how Jesus conquered Satan and the power of death. We cover numerous Biblical texts from the Old and New Testament that fill out the details of God's work in Christ to free us from slavery. Jesus' death was to defeat death and set His sons and daughters free from the fear of death. We cite the original temptation which led to sin and death as found in Genesis 3. Jesus in His humanity rendered Satan's lie powerless over those who trust in Christ. Our text mentions the 'seed' of Abraham which recounts the promises given to Abraham that he would have many descendants. This seed is spiritual not simply biological. Many of Abraham's descendants did not have saving faith. Then the important topic of Jesus as our great High Priest is introduced which is a key theme in Hebrews. Because of His suffering, He is merciful and able to "take hold of" His own to bring them to Himself. This includes propitiation which implies averting God's wrath and receiving cleansing from sin. He comes to our aid and gives access to the throne of grace where can find grace and help.

  • Jesus is God
This sermon explores the profound deity of Jesus Christ as revealed in John chapter five, specifically focusing on verses nineteen through twenty-four. The preacher argues that Jesus' claim to work alongside God the Father and give life equates to making Himself equal with God, a truth that provoked the Jewish leaders to seek His death. Key theological themes include the perfect unity between the Father and the Son, the eternal love within the Godhead, and Jesus' divine authority to judge and grant eternal life. The message emphasizes that honoring the Son is identical to honoring the Father, warning against the arrogance of rejecting Christ's divine identity. Ultimately, the text calls believers to recognize Jesus not merely as a teacher but as the co-equal God who upholds the universe and offers salvation.

  • Grace that Does Not Let Go - COD 5-6
Canons of Dort Fifth Head of Doctrine - The Perseverance of the Saints Article 6: God does not change His purpose of election and allow sinners to utterly fall away by withdrawing His Holy Spirit, thus allowing them to fall into everlasting destruction. But God, who is rich in mercy, according to His unchangeable purpose of election, does not wholly withdraw the Holy Spirit from His own people even in their grievous falls; nor suffers them to proceed so far as to lose the grace of adoption and forfeit the state of justification, or to commit the sin unto death or against the Holy Spirit; nor does He permit them to be totally deserted, and to plunge themselves into everlasting destruction.
