If someone is going through the dying process, like Steve is, their physical functionality, relative comfort, and cognitive ability may change as the disease progresses. Any number of symptoms or circumstances threaten to bounce us out of acceptance. Look to God to give you strength in times when you are feeling unstable.

Jason sits down with Steve again to talk about the first stage in the grieving process: Denial. Denial is a protective mechanism in response to pain. But what if you didn’t need to deny a situation in order to bear it?

In this conversation, Steve shares why he has not experienced denial of his terminal cancer diagnosis. And it’s not because of something that he has done. It is an undeserved gift of God to experience peace in times of hardship.

Steve talks about receiving his brain cancer diagnosis and how God ministered to him through the scriptures while he processed this huge life change. Rather than spiraling into depression, anger, or any other number of understandable reactions, Steve experienced peace.

“Your eyes saw my unformed substance, being yet unformed. And in your book they all were written, the days were fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them.”

Jason sits down with his father-in-law Steve who has been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.
