  • Puffed Up
Have you ever experienced when two Christians, each holding firmly to Bible verses, spoke past one another, and this did not benefit their relationship? This sermon examines the tension between theological knowledge and Christian love, using the Corinthian debate over food offered to idols as a case study. It argues that while doctrinal accuracy is important, wielding knowledge without compassion can destroy the conscience of weaker believers and fracture church unity. The message emphasizes that spiritual maturity carries a greater responsibility to nurture rather than condemn, mirroring the self-sacrificial love of Christ. Listeners are challenged to examine their motivations in theological disagreements, ensuring that their actions reflect the gospel rather than a false standard of self-glorification. The ultimate goal is a healthy congregation where truth is spoken with gentleness, fostering growth and stability for all members.

  • All Scripture
The sermon argues that the debate over Bible translations is fundamentally an issue of authority rather than linguistics, asserting that the Bible must remain the final authority in the believer's life. Drawing from 2 Timothy 3:13-17, the message emphasizes that all Scripture is inspired by God and is necessary for salvation and sanctification, making any alteration or omission a rejection of divine authority. The preacher presents three principles: God's Word is complete and pure, God has supernaturally preserved it for humanity, and the ultimate purpose of Scripture is to be obeyed. The text contends that the King James Bible represents the preserved, complete Word of God, and that believers must submit to its authority rather than relying on human judgment or changing versions. Finally, the sermon encourages believers to seek the Holy Spirit's enlightenment to understand and apply the Scriptures, rather than seeking easier translations to avoid the effort of spiritual growth.

  • 322. Is Your Job Christian? Rethinking Faith and Culture
Can your job as a plumber, your Monday to Friday at the office, or your Saturday grocery run be an act of worship, or is "Christian living" really just a Sunday thing? In this opening episode of a three-part series, Dr. Marcus Mininger unpacks two impulses every believer feels but rarely reconciles: the belief that Christ changes everything, and the assurance that even if we lose everything, his victory stands unshaken. Drawing on Colossians and a lifetime of watching Reformed Christians debate culture (from social gospel enthusiasm to monastic withdrawal to today's two-kingdoms debates), Mininger makes the case that both impulses are biblical, and that getting the balance wrong has real consequences for how we live.

  • Mormon Debates, Avoiding Acts 4, Some Personal Encouragement
Went over some developments on the Mormon front, the fact that Mormonism really is splintering fast into self-prophet groups with all sorts of different views and beliefs. We also looked at a statement posted by Leighton Flowers (written by someone else) that said that if Judas or Pilate had "repented" that God could have found "someone else." We thought through what that would mean and realized that's just Open Theism wearing a big nose and a fake mustache. Finally at the end I told everyone who didn't want something personal to tune out, and then I told the story of how I have been using Claude, the AI, to create programs that are allowing me to record my workouts and get a better idea of how hard I am lifting, etc. Just a little encouragement for my fellow aging athletes.

  • Debating Worldviews with Muslims and Atheists - Interview with James White
Taking a position on truth is pretty unpopular today, but there are still some who have the courage to do it in the public forum. Dr. James White is one of the nation's most active Christian apologists and debaters, having debated atheists, Muslims, etc. over the last twenty years. Here, Kevin Swanson interacts with James on how to engage the battle in the dangerous war of ideas—with meekness and fear.

  • 26-09-27 Meet Christiana
Meet Christiana Faith Debate: Sunday, September 27th, 2026 (10/04/26 on 930 WFMD in Frederick, Maryland) Does history warn against Christian avoidance of "Artificial Intelligence"? In other words, are saints today repeating the strategic error of early 20th-Century fundamentalism? In the 1920s–1940s significant sectors of Christianity responded to cultural/intellectual hostility by withdrawing from universities, media, & public institutions; a posture that ceded enormous cultural influence for generations. The result wasn't the preservation of orthodoxy so much as the marginalization of orthodox Christianity from the formation of cultural institutions. Figures such as J Gresham Machen fought against this withdrawal, arguing that Christians must engage & reform institutions, rather than abandon them. The Faith Debate wondered if Christian avoidance of AI is the beginning of another decades-long strategic retreat that future generations will lament, asking if separation from culture has ever produced a more Christian culture. Can the church sanctify what it abandons? You're encouraged to go listen to these shows. In the meantime, this episode is part 2 of a 4-part conversation on the subject of spiritual visions/apparitions. • 09 Colossians 2:4-7 - Walking in Him
The sermon explores the dual approach Paul takes in Colossians to address false teaching: warning against deceptive persuasive arguments and affirming the believer's secure union with Christ. It emphasizes that the antidote to Gnostic error is not intellectual debate but a deep understanding of Christ's full deity and the believer's position in Him. The text highlights the progression of the Christian life, moving from being firmly rooted in Christ at salvation to being continuously built up and established in the faith through instruction. This stability is characterized by good discipline and steadfastness, contrasting with the lukewarmness of Laodicea. The message concludes by encouraging believers to respond to this truth with overflowing gratitude, recognizing that their security rests solely in the person and work of Jesus Christ.

  • The Denomination Debate (Part 2)
This lesson examines the Corinthian church's divisions as a cautionary example for modern Christians who often identify with denominations or human leaders rather than solely with Christ. The lesson argues that while the human need for identity is natural, believers must reject man-made traditions and instead anchor their faith in the Word of God as their sole authority. By highlighting the crucifixion and baptism in the name of Jesus, the lesson emphasizes that true unity is found only in a shared commitment to biblical doctrine, not in sectarian labels. The lesson concludes by commending the house of Chloe for their spiritual discernment, urging local churches to prioritize doctrinal purity and Christ-centered unity over religious or organizational affiliations.
