  • Beware of false teachers
    ~~~~~~~ No 28 in the series - The Epistles of Peter. ~~~~~~~ **Considering 2 Peter 2:1-3** But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. *1/ There were and will be false teachers. 2/ The influence they will have. 3/ The methods they will use.* **Sermon Summary:** This sermon issues a solemn warning to believers about the presence and danger of false teachers within the church. Drawing primarily from 2 Peter chapter 2, the text highlights how these individuals creep in unawares, promoting damnable heresies and exploiting congregants through covetousness and feigned words. The message emphasizes the critical need for spiritual discernment to distinguish between genuine doctrine and deceptive error, noting that false teachers often mimic true prophets and promise peace without requiring repentance. It urges the audience to test all teachings against Scripture rather than relying on a teacher's reputation or popularity. Ultimately, the sermon calls for vigilance to protect the truth of the Gospel and ensure personal fidelity to Christ amidst spiritual deception.
  • Mass Deliverance vs. the Gospel: A Biblical Response
    Dawn Hill examines the teaching and practice of mass deliverance within the modern deliverance movement and compares its claims with the clear teaching of Scripture. Dawn addresses the belief that Christians can have indwelling demons, along with teachings concerning generational curses, chronic illness, demonic affliction, spiritual open doors, manifestations, and repeated deliverance sessions. She also examines several passages commonly used to support these ideas, showing why biblical context matters when considering Job, 1 Peter 5, Ephesians 2, John 5, John 10, and Matthew 12. Rather than directing Christians toward continual deliverance sessions, Scripture points believers to the finished work of Christ, the indwelling Holy Spirit, biblical sanctification, and the gospel that truly delivers sinners from the domain of darkness. Dawn concludes by considering Acts 2 and the three thousand souls saved through the proclamation of the gospel, reminding Christians that true freedom is found in Jesus Christ.   • God Is Trustworthy: Trust Him With All Your Heart
    In the final episode of the 52-week Trust in the Lord series, Doreen Virtue considers God's attribute of trustworthiness from Proverbs 3:5–6. After spending decades in New Thought and New Age spirituality, Doreen had to learn from Scripture who God truly is and why He can be trusted. Rather than trusting our own understanding, attempting to control the future, or expecting God to conform to our timing, Christians are called to trust the Lord with all their hearts. Doreen explains how studying God's attributes strengthens our confidence in Him, why His character remains trustworthy even when prayers seem unanswered, and how believers can bring their fears, worries, and uncertainties to their sovereign and faithful God. Even when we cannot understand what God is doing, we can trust who He is. For more from Doreen, please visit: https://servantsofgrace.org/doreen-virtue/
  • Jesse Duplantis’ False YouTube Claim Exposed
    Jesse Duplantis claimed that YouTube demonetized his channel because it was receiving too many views and that the platform told him he was outperforming Jimmy Kimmel. Justin Peters compares that claim with publicly available channel statistics and demonstrates the enormous disparity between the two audiences. He then addresses the deeper biblical issue: false teachers are repeatedly characterized by greed, deception, and the exploitation of those who trust them. In this episode of Sound Theology and Discernment, Justin explains why Christians must take dishonesty seriously, especially when it comes from someone who regularly claims to speak for God. Believers must test every teacher, every spiritual claim, and every alleged revelation by the sufficient and authoritative Word of God.
