Praise God for what He will do (Exod. 15:12-18). Moses looks to the future and God’s plan for Israel. So, Christian, look ahead to the hope of salvation. God will bring His children safely home to heaven where they will dwell with Him forever—yea, He will reign forever!

A true Christian follows Christ and His word. Yes, they rejoice in reading and hearing His word. They receive with humility what the Bible says, no matter what others say. But then, they are characterized by applying it by God’s grace and the Spirit’s empowerment to their own lives.

Until we grow in being unashamed of the gospel and specifically gain a glimpse of the horrors of God’s wrath, we will never begin to see the horror and beauty of the cross, which motivates our evangelism. When we know what awaits the wicked, we are motivated to evangelize individuals and masses of unbelievers. We are motivated to evangelize people in our community and churches when we realize that many have deceived themselves into thinking that they are part of God’s people, yet they are not.

The words from David are ones we need to hear today. Wait on the Lord! God will always help on time. Wait on the Lord and take courage! Wait on the Lord and strengthen your heart with hope in Him! The process of selecting elders should be done by seeking God’s guidance in prayer. Clear criteria are given in the New Testament, with 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:5–9 being key passages that provide details on the essential qualifications of an elder. Elders ought to work willingly and discharge their responsibility with reverence. We ought to pray continuously for church leaders.

Today, we as believers celebrate and remember the amazing truth that God sent His only begotten Son. He did not send Him as a conquering king or as a triumphant warrior. He sent Him as a humble, lowly, helpless baby, in the midst of the filth and stench of animals and human sin. From the beginning to the very end, Jesus’ was a life of humiliation. The One who alone should have been worshiped as God came in the likeness of sinful flesh (Rom. 8:3) so that He might redeem us from the curse of our sin. What a Savior we have!

When Jesus was born in Bethlehem, He and His family received strangers who came bearing gifts. The focus of the scene is not on Mary or the wise men. Instead, the focus is on the little boy, Jesus. The wise men recognized Jesus to be the promised King of the Jews, so they traveled a great distance to honor Him with their gifts. Though the gifts were valuable, their true value lay in the worship that was offered to Jesus through them.
