    5. 20. "I Will Never Yell Again"

This week Nina & Brian discuss their Chris Brown adventures, taking days off from work & how each one of them doesn't yell anymore. There are a lot of benefits to learning to communicate effectively. Yelling is the lowest form of communication and a habit we must all consciously work on to eradicate. Nina shares the benefits of not yelling and also shares some tips on how you, too, can learn to stop yelling and take a much calmer approach to life.

Here are 5 powerful things I have learned from not yelling:

      1. It doesn't work; waste of time
      2. You will regret it every time. Avoiding it all together is way more powerful than having to deal with the regret later
      3. I'm in a good mood 98% of the time, regardless of anyone or anything now; this helps me be better at life and in all my relationships
      4. Improved mood= focus on whats essential in life. I don't waste time pouting or replaying the scenario or even worse repairing relationships again and again
      5. Healthier; lower cortisol and blood pressure

      6. 5 ways you can stop yelling too:

        1. When you find yourself ready to explode… walk away, or hang up the phone whatever you have to do to get away from the situation; even change the topic if you must
        2. Force yourself to get into your head and out of the moment; in your head smile, and love yourself more this will help you make the right choice and smash your ego to the ground immediately. result = calm response with no yelling
        3. Think of clouds passing by
        4. Do it for your health
        5. Realize you're better than this; that should automatically help you level up. Be the bigger, better person, it tricks your mind and your ego into taking the path of least resistance

        7. 19. Part 2 "Dallas, Texas! & How to Overcome Victim Mentality"

Welcome back guys! Today Nina & Brian dive deep into overcoming the victimhood mentality along with tactical steps to help you release the past, focus on the present and create the future. They also share some personal stories around their recent trip to Dallas, Texas. Be on the lookout for Brian's new workout that he has finally gave into with the help of Nina. It's a game changer!

We discussed childhood trauma in depth last week and touched on some of the negative long lasting effects it can have on an individual and one of them was victimhood mentality.

Today is going to be all about HOW TO OVERCOME THIS VICTIMHOOD MENTALITY:

At some point in life, everyone has had to do something against their will.  Everyone has experienced a difficult time when she/he felt humiliated or betrayed in some way. Many of us have experienced the loss of a loved one, or even of our own health.  Some of us have been victims of violence – at home, in school, or in life…

But while some manage to cope with pain, self-pity, anger and guilt, others come to see themselves as victims.  The victim mentality is formed not only as a result of sustained violence or humiliation but also by the environment.  Often people do not recognize and do not even realize that they are acting the victim.

Seeing yourself as a victim does not necessarily mean that you have been subjected to physical or psychological abuse. A victim is a person, who believes that something or someone is externally controlling her/his life. Victims see themselves as impotent. They believe that external factors control their life, and see life as a wall of insurmountable circumstances.

They feel compelled to do things against their will.  They might complain, but they will still do what they do not want to do, thinking that there is no alternative. It seems like that the whole world is against them.  Victims always feel dependent on the mercy of external forces and blame them for everything that happens in their world.

The victim mentality can be seen in all areas of our lives: relationships, friendships, career, family relationships, health, body image, self confidence etc.

But, today we are focused today on overcoming victimhood mentality from childhood trauma

          1. Release the pain of the past
          2. Take responsibility for your life
          3. You always have a choice
          4. Change your vocabulary
          5. Learn to say No
          6. Change Your attitude
          7. Taking small steps out of your comfort zone

          8. Quote: "You have power over your mind — not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength."

          9. 19. Part 1: "Hold Yourself Accountable For The Energy In Your Marriage/Family AND Childhood Trauma, How it Affects & Alters Someone’s Overall Development In Life Completely"

Welcome to another brand new episode Deep Thoughts listeners! So glad to have you back & for those of you new to our show welcome! The lifestyle tip this week is MAJOR and based on some real life observations both Nina & Brian have made.

This week's main topic was suggested by a dear friend & listener of the podcast. It definitely took Nina down a rabbit hole of emotions while researching and also taught both Brian & Nina a lot. Although it is a very serious and semi dark topic, both Nina & Brian have made the effort to help their audience see the positive or see the good in something traumatic their audience members may have experienced.

This segment will be broken down into three parts to help us stay on track as we move through this topic with you guys.

            1. Childhood trauma, what is it?
            2. How it Affects & Alters Someone’s Overall Development In Life Completely
            3. and How to Overcome The Stigma of Becoming A Victim Of Your Past (in part 2 of this episode)

            4. Childhood Trauma:

Definition: trauma results from an event, series of events, or set of circumstances that is experienced by an individual as physically or emotionally harmful or threatening and that can have lasting adverse effects on the individual’s functioning and physical, social, emotional well-being.

There are three main types of trauma: acute, chronic, or complex.

              • Acute trauma results from a single incident.
              • Chronic trauma is repeated and prolonged such as domestic violence or abuse.
              • Complex trauma is exposure to varied and multiple traumatic events, often of an invasive, interpersonal nature.

              • EXAMPLES OF TRAUMA:

Early childhood trauma generally refers to the traumatic experiences that occur to children ages 0-6. Children can experience various types of trauma including:

                • Natural disasters
                • Sexual Abuse
                • Physical Abuse
                • Domestic Violence
                • Medical Injury, illness, or procedures
                • Community violence
                • Neglect, deprivation
                • Traumatic grief
                • Victim of crime
                • Kidnapping
                • Accidents
                • School violence
                • Loss

                • In fact, nearly any event can be considered traumatic to a child if:

                  1. It happened unexpectedly
                  2. It happened repeatedly
                  3. Someone was intentionally cruel
                  4. The child was unprepared for it

                      6. 17. "Quiet Time is Food For Your Soul" & "Sacrifices are a Good Thing"

Happy Tuesday people! We are back as promised with yet another brand new episode of "Deep Thoughts w/the Dixons!" This week Nina shares a lifestyle tip she just stumbled upon.... Quiet Time. Sounds simple right? Many of us are so used to always be talking, listening to the TV, listening to podcasts, reading something, consuming some time of content at all times.  Even when meditating we use youtube videos and headphones! Well quiet time is the exact OPPOSITE. It helps lower your cortisol levels, helps get rid of anxious thoughts, helps calm and center your mind and body and you can do this while enjoying your morning coffee/latte/matcha. It help you to learn to sit with yourself and not be at the demand of your thoughts or emotions but instead it help you to become very intentional in just being calm, present and grateful. It's a great way to start your day.  For the main topic of the day, Nina & Brian share their personal sacrifices they are currently making for their careers and also put a positive spin on it for those of you who feel like you're sacrificing a lot as well. ENJOY!

We hope this episode helps you realize that it takes work, determination, discipline, and lots of sacrifices, in the short term, to get what you want/live the way you dream of living. Some of us handle it easier than others, and some have a very positive outlook while doing it others not so much.

Think about where you are right now in life? What can you do within your construct that can take you to the next level of where you want to be. If it's freedom you’re after then you should make moves towards that. If it's a promotion then I'm going to challenge you to think about your future. Will you always be at that desk or office job? How do you plan on 4-xing your income? I'm sure it's going to tap out at some point where they will replace you. Are you working for that pension plan after retirement? Did you know its really not that much?

These are the questions that ran through our minds that pushed us. We also have parents who are very entrepreneurial and create their own opportunities with no ceilings or caps in life or any area of life for that matter, and that’s what got my attention.

It’s not for everyone of course. But no matter what you are trying to do for yourself you are making sacrifices whether you realize it or not and you should prolly make sure they are all worth it. Play big, and believe in yourself more.

                        4. Quote: “It's not hard to decide what you want your life to be about. What's hard is figuring out what you're willing to give up in order to do the things you really care about.”

                        5. 16. "Observe or Absorb?" &"Can We Reprogram Our Minds?"

Many of us never question our beliefs. We are on autopilot and this is by far one of the most limiting habits we have. Sit back and listen how you can reprogram your mind, break your mental barriers and rewire your beliefs to create the life you really wish to live.

Question: When faced with an unpleasant situation/confrontation do you tend to observe or absorb?

We’ve touched on this topic several times but never really went deep into it, about our belief system, where it stems from? What differentiates each of our beliefs? How to even be aware that you or someone else is allowing their belief system to limit themselves in some way or limit you?

                          Topics Covered In This Episode:

                          1. Belief system what we think is true. We’re on auto pilot and don’t even think twice to question our belief about someone or something. Where do these come from?
                          2. Why is this such a bad thing?
                          3. This belief system is programmed into our subconscious mind. We have two types of minds
                          4. The subconscious has been fed since birth. This means people before you who have been tainted by the same limiting beliefs are now shaping you and how you grow up to believe or limit yourself. You see the vicious cycle here?
                          5. What can you do to change this?
                          6. First acknowledge it. Learn about this.
                          7. Then take steps to actively work on your yourself and your mindset. Reprogram the subconscious to help you believe things that you want to see in life or experience
                          8. What steps to take?

                          9. 3 Major Steps You Can Take to Reshape Your Mind:

                            1. As you are falling asleep, feel the emotion of what it is you want to experience. The subconscious mind speaks in the language of feeling and as you drift off you are going to the theta state which is where the subconscious mind operates. This is important. We talked about growth mindset and law of attraction before and manifesting by writing things down BUT people skip the feeling part. You have to be able to daydream and imagine these things as you would feel having them. That's the key part.
                            2. Wire in new thoughts/habits. This ties in with our episode about taking action even if you're fearful or people are telling you no. By doing this you will create new habits, new thoughts, new confidence levels, new belief systems for yourself. Scientifically, brain neurons fire together and wire together. The more consistently you wire in a new behavior, action or thought, the more it becomes a part of your new autopilot mind.
                            3. Do something you have never done before. When you do this, your mind has no choice but to make new connections in the brain. In the unknown is where we can create great change and miracles.

                            4. Books:

                              1. The Power of Your Subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphy
                              2. Power of Awareness by Neville Goddard

                              3. Quote: "Our subconscious minds have no sense of humor, play no jokes, and cannot tell the difference between reality and imagined thoughts or images. What we continually think about eventually will manifest into our lives”

We become so focused on the everyday tasks in life that we forget why we are even doing what we are doing? This can suck the motivation out of anyone at anytime. An easy way to snap out of these funks is to always keep a little reminder, a note of some sort or a physical token that represents your goal. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

⁣⁣⁣For me personally, I just think of the future version of myself. I do it for her. I am driven by the promises I have made to myself. That’s what drives me. So on my toughest days, I just vision the 33 or 34 year old Nina who is looking back at her 31 year old self and thanking her for not giving up. Sometimes I get very detailed about this future “Nina”: Where I am living? What does my new office look like? What product lines have I launched? How big or small is my team? What do my campaigns look like? How many people still download our podcast? Has my business gone international yet? As I am thinking those questions above I am also answering them through my visions bc I know exactly what I want for myself at 33 or 34 years old. So then my current, unmotivated attitude shifts into an energized, motivated & inspired attitude. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

⁣⁣⁣⁣I know this works for me, because I look at where I am at today…. and in a lot of ways, maybe differently, I saw 75% of this for myself 4 years ago.
