A landlord has settled with the DOJ for sexual harassment.  No jailtime!!!

Thoughts

1.  177,000 to settle a fair housing complaint regarding sexual harassment.  The statement says he is being “held accountable”?  seriously

2.  No jailtime. 

3.  As I make this video, it’s a call to prospective tenants that this sort of thing apparently happens, and it’s not OK.

In a tulsa Oklahoma county, the number of evictions filed are not being done by the local mom and pops, it is alleged.  It is also further alleged that management companies are making a profit off of this practice.

Thoughts

1.  Does it matter who has a right to file an eviction?  Are companies not allowed, only mom and pops?  As we’ve been seeing in single family housing, Institutional control of the available single family housing in America is a terrible idea.

So, you move into a neighborhood with an HOA, then something happens…now you pay the HOA.

Thoughts

1.  Do people not realize that when you move into a subdivision with an HOA, you are subject to any assessments that are deemed necessary?

2.  There are 72 lots in this development.  We don’t know how many lots are impacted by the drainage issue.

A massive Beverly Hills Mansion is apparently unlivable.

Thoughts

1.  The buyer went through the house in July before purchasing and noticed an issue with the windows or HVAC system according to the article.  This is something that happens all of the time.  In fact, when we do an inspection before buying, we are looking for these types of “major” issues.

Agent attacked at an open house randomly. 

Thoughts

1.  I hear about these things more and more.  I don’t know if it’s because I am sensitive to it working in the industry or what. 

2.  I like open houses.  But this is the second time I’ve read where an agent is attacked.  That’s an issue.  Is there a way we could make open houses more safe for agents?

1.  What would happen if you tried to make the condo tax break on every single family home?  Who would or would not support it?

2.  Is this “friction” on purpose?  Does it keep the tax break in place?

3.  Tax policy and authority does affect behavior in the real world.

Story out of Indiana says a woman has been pooping in people’s yards

2.  What will the charges be?  The story says that they have the person responsible…will there be charges at all?

Story out of Missouri says that a real estate broker stole a home from a man in Missouri.  Property was in Illinios…what’s up with this?

1.  Ever seen one of those ads for “buy your home guaranteed”?  It’s a huge conflict of interest in my opinion, so we don’t do it.  In this case, you have a real estate broker meeting with either her client, or a seller…but in what capacity is the broker acting?
