Australia's Defence Minister Richard Marles has warned of a nuclear arms race in the Indo Pacific region, driven by China's growing nuclear powers, and by Russia's strategic ties with North Korea. Mr Marles says the previous arms control framework - developed by Western allies grappling with the threat of nuclear proliferation during the Cold War, is no longer adequate to deal with the modern day rise of nuclear power, cyber threats or the weaponisation of space.
Guest: Ely Ratner, former Assistant Secretary of Defence for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs in the Biden administration
