Now that they've (finally?) seen the last of Jethero, the Defenders have returned to Centrevale to prepare for their next excursion. Abel arrives with Su and an unknown guildie, the former with intel regarding the whereabouts of the Defenders' next target: Blue. How tough is an ancient blue dragon, anyway? Upon returning to Centrevale, our heroes bring with them the young girl whose cultist parents had been slain (by our heroes...but she doesn't know that...anymore). They send her to the bakery with Brisingr to learn a skilled trade before heading out in search of the beholders threatening Down Heer.

The battle rages on as more devils continue to enter the fray! Abel has just left the Humble Beginnings and the mood is weird. Ryn returns with information about Abel, though it is not new to the rest of his party. Before the Defenders can begin to process the previous events a lunatic cultist bursts into the inn and insinuates that the Guild is not "defending" their town at all as children have begun disappearing at night. Upon confirming the accusation, the Defenders set off to save Centrevale's children.

Back at the Humble Beginnings, Basil enlists the refined skills of Ka--uh, Springwater, to extract information from his father, Julius. Finnileas and Ryn are absent for whatever reasons, and the rest of the Defenders press Abel to determine whether the Ancient One is good or evil, for whatever that is worth, and what it plans to do with Tolgol once Tomorrow finally arrives.
